The only blemish on the rating would be from the complimentary ice cream, as it tasted like the it had gone sour. Management was notified and I’m sure they fixed the issue asap, as they seemed very on top of service and wouldn’t want to offer a product, even if it is complimentary, that was not great.
Highly recommend.
Living in Seattle, we have some great sushi so I know what good sushi tastes like. This place doesn’t have good sushi. The proportion of filling to rice is way off. There is so much rice wrapped around that when you take a bite you’re mostly just eating sweet rice which is not palatable. We could barely taste the filling and all of our rolls. The avocado and our avocado roll was brown and I just left it there wasting money. Complimentary miso soup was not very hot and was super salty… And this is coming from somebody who really likes salt.
The atmosphere is very strange and eclectic with no general theme. I’m a minimalist and I was overwhelmed with how much crap was is shoved into this place. Didn’t help that there was also a loose dog running around the restaurant which is by no means sanitary or allowed? The bathrooms were disgusting and unclean which made me worried about the rest of the restaurant. And what’s with the random robots delivering water and food?
We spent over $60 on three rolls and some gyoza that not very good. If I lived up there and had access to this place routinely I would not come back. Seeing as how I live down in Seattle, I don’t need to come back. But people be warned….
The menu has something for everyone, from creative specialty rolls to comforting classics, and even options for people who don’t usually go for sushi. The staff is always warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home. Service is quick, attentive, and they’re happy to give recommendations if you’re not sure what to try.
The atmosphere is cozy yet lively, perfect for date nights, family dinners, or catching up with friends. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes you get, which makes it an excellent value.
If you’re in Blaine (or even just passing through), Monster Sushi is a must-visit. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again—I know I will!
