This is by far my most favorite place to get sushi. Tokyo deserves far more traffic. This place was the first place I ever had sushi and that was over 10 years ago! The ambience is amazing. The service is top tier and the sushi is absolutely divine. I think I go 3-4 times a month. I’m extremely pleased each time I visit this fine establishment. Also to some, this is equally important, I want to add that they have the cleanest restrooms out of any restaurant I’ve visited.

This place was amazing! Best Asian food I’ve ever had! The service was impeccable and the staff was so kind and polite. It’s a hidden gem in a strip of stores. Also, it’s now called Kishi instead of Tokyo. Anyways WOW!

The cooks are always so entertaining. I love that they keep my kids interacting with them to make it even more special. The food is always so tasty and cooked to perfection. We have been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. We celebrate everyones birthday here and with a family of 10 that’s alot of time spent here with drums and ice cream.. (That’s their birthday celebration if you didn’t know.)

Eaten here multiple times. Food never disappoints. We recently took our 4 year old granddaughter there and we had a couple of spills. Our server, Kayla was so helpful! We were able to salvage our experience and finish a fantastic meal. Special thanks to Kayla. See you again soon.

Tokyo is the best Japanese Steakhouse in Tuscaloosa, and the best Japanese steakhouse I’ve ever been to. It wins over Hokkaido (who is in 2nd place), due to their great noodles and very strong tasting shrimp sauce (yum yum sauce). I would give Hokkaido a slight edge in the taste of their meats, rice and vegetables, but not enough to oust Tokyo from its place on the thrown of Japanese in Tuscaloosa. Sushi is really good as well at Tokyo (equally good at Hokkaido). The Lee family (the owners) are great. If you go there enough, you will get to know them personally. So to recap, if noodles and very strong tasting shrimp sauce matter to you, it’s worth the drive to go to Hillcrest (69 south) in Tuscaloosa, and make Tokyo, your go to place for Japanese food! Each dinner comes with soup, salad, choice of meat, rice, veggies, noodles and shrimp sauce!

Love the staff at Tokyo Japanese Steak & Sushi bar. They’re well managed and always seem to be happy to be there. The food is delicious and they have quick service, even with take-out orders. Highly recommended for sushi lovers.
