This is literally the best food I’ve eaten since being In Huntsville! No lie. I’ll be honest.. driving up to it, the human in me wanted to judge it because the outside does need some TLC, but Boy.. when I say, “don’t judge a book by its cover”.. I MEAN it! We should have left when we pulled into the parking lot but you never know, sometimes the dives are the best spots. Not in this case however. Don’t look around too much, it’s filthy, especially the ceiling fans. Despite our “gut” instinct we decided to give it a try. Plus the lady we assumed was an owner was super friendly and very sweet. We ordered sushi and steak and chicken hibachi. The miso was gross and the salad was bathed in dressing. The sushi was OK but the hibachi was disgusting. The meat was clearly cheap cuts that were marinated too long so the consistency was chewy, kind of like plastic. Everything was drenched in sauce which was way too salty. The rice was very dry and flavorless. Maybe just order the sushi and ask them to go light on the sauces, otherwise, I would avoid.

Oddly enough, the rice was the worst part. It was not cooked all the way through leaving it slightly crunchy. The steak and chicken teriyaki was ok. Miso soup was good. Pretty empty and very dark. If you decide to eat here, probably best to get to go. Take my rating with a grain of salt as I’ve lived in Japan so my taste buds are attuned to more authentic taste.

Paid $18 for tuna don which is over priced. It was so bland just rice and tuna, tuna didn’t seemed fresh at all since it had yellow stains. I couldn’t even eat .

Are there “fancier” sushi places around? Yes. But, for the price, I think Tokyo Grill is a great little place. I admit, I wasn’t so sure when we pulled in the parking lot, and even when we walked inside. But, I am glad we tried this place out! There was one woman running the entire place! She was serving the tables, washing dishes and even made our sushi! I ordered the Chef’s Special Combination (a combo or nagiri and sashimi). Oh my gosh! That first bite of tuna sashimi had me sold! It practically melts in your mouth. My friend got the alaskan roll and the caterpillar roll and said both were very good. We think you should give Tokyo grill a try!
