The place is super cozy, it was dead on a Monday at 6:30 as I was the only guest but they did some several call in orders. I ordered hibachi steak and shrimp and wasn’t offered a sipping soup or salad nor was I asked how I wanted my steak prepared.
The food came out pretty quick and obviously fresh. The portion size was near perfect. Often Asian is over generous which isn’t a bad thing the food was very tasty. I would have liked the steak cooked a little less but it was honestly very good. I ate the entirety of what was served.
Then the bill arrived 3.5% credit card fee, a 18% service fee. SERVICE FEE?!?!? A service fee for 1 person. That’s crazy!! For that reason alone, I won’t return. One walk in customer voiced his opinion on it too. The lady insisted that all Asian restaurants charge that. Ma’am I travel all over the US and NEVER have had to pay that for a single dine in. 6 people maybe, 8 yes for sure
So, I am offering a long one to help folks out. It is a very well decorated place. Lights, plants, very clean dining area. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Incredibly friendly staff. They did a steady take out, but there were a few people in the booths. Our food came out quick and the take out seemed to be moving as well. No one was sitting around just waiting.
We had the fried Gyoza, scallion pancake, spring rolls, Dumpling Soup, bourbon chicken, and honey chicken. Everything we had was phenomenal. The honey chicken says spicy on the menu, but that may be a misprint, I asked before I ordered it, and the server said it wasn’t at all, so I still got it.
I wanted hot Jasmine tea. They serve it “grandfather style” which is the loose tea leaves that when it’s ready float to the bottom. If you aren’t expecting it, it might be a bit of a surprise.
Be aware they automatically add the gratituty to the bill as well as charging extra for card use, but I feel like that’s becoming standard. Our server was excellent, so I added some extra. There were signs letting us know as well as it showing on the bill and they asked ahead of time and told us about the charge for card. I feel like as long as they let me know beforehand, I can choose which way to pay.
Overall great dinner and we will be back when next out there. I really wanted to try their ice cream, which is the viral fruit ice cream, but we were stuffed.
