Toki Sushi and Hibachi on Furrys Ferry Road served us raw chicken, and both of us got food poisoning as a result.
We ordered two teriyaki chicken combos and one chicken skewer appetizer (Yakitori). The Yakitori was the problem — both of us ate one skewer each, and both of us got sick, meaning both skewers were undercooked.
I didn’t notice the chicken was raw until the last piece. The chicken was skewered between layers of onion, so it wasn’t obvious at first. We had been wondering why it was so chewy, but when I finally pulled the chicken off the skewer to avoid eating more onions, I saw that the center was pink and raw.
When I showed the server, she initially tried to tell me it was “just that one piece” and that the thickness made it look undercooked — which was clearly not true. She took it to the kitchen, apologized, and removed the appetizer from our bill, giving us a 15% discount on the rest.
But honestly, if they’re too cheap to comp a meal after serving raw chicken, what other corners are they cutting to save money? Food safety clearly isn’t a priority here.
Eat at your own risk.
The whole night felt like we were being rushed to get out of there. She took half of the table’s order then it took at least 15 minutes for her to pay any attention to the other half. A couple of people in our party requested a check to leave and she practically forced the table to sing happy birthday to my son early which ruined the tradition of lighting candles. Not one person at our table got a refill unless it was alcohol. We all requested to go cups since we didnt get a refill at least 3 times and she ignored us. The beauty of her ignoring us was seeing how focused she was on the new customers coming in. I am not saying ignore the new customers but dont ignore the ones already there in the process. She passed out our checks for the rest of the table without asking if we were ready which we were not because we had a birthday cake sitting right there. She rushed us to give her our cards to pay and then took another 20 minutes to return with our cards and receipts so we can leave. Keep in mind she made sure she was tending to other tables in the process ignoring people at our table when we tried to get her attention.
This was not a good visit. She is not a good server and yes she ruined a significant part of my son’s birthday.
We usually have good experiences here but being so blatantly rushed and ignored is not acceptable.
Our party of thirteen was assigned to a server named Nina. From the moment she approached the table, her demeanor was noticeably rushed and unusually curt. Before our group had even received drinks, she was already asking my elderly parents to place their food orders, creating a sense of unnecessary urgency.
Throughout the evening, the service continued to decline. Multiple soups and salads were brought to the table despite several individuals not having ordered yet. When we requested drink refills, Nina consistently walked past our table while refilling nearby tables instead, which made the experience feel dismissive and uncomfortable.
The handling of the birthday acknowledgment was especially disappointing. Without preparation or coordination, Nina abruptly announced that we needed to sing to the birthday honoree and immediately began singing. At that moment, the birthday cake was still wrapped and the candle not yet lit, making what should have been a special moment feel awkward and poorly executed.
The situation escalated further when my uncle politely requested his check. Rather than addressing his request directly, Nina instructed that the entire table needed to pay immediately. When I calmly stated that I was not ready to check out, she displayed unprofessional behavior by snatching my cousin’s credit card from her hand and grabbing the ticket from the table.
After that exchange, she did not return to take any additional orders. Ultimately, we had to sit at the table and place a to-go order by phone because service had completely stopped.
What was meant to be a joyful and memorable family celebration quickly became an unfortunate and stressful experience. The level of service we received was far below the standard we expected, especially for a restaurant our family has enjoyed many times before.
I hope this feedback is helpful for training and improvement, as no family should have to endure such service especially during a special occasion.
The food here really is hit and miss and it absolutely depends on the cook. Whoever the cook was for today (June 28) at around 3 pm is one of the best ones. My steak and veggies were perfectly cooked. I like my steak med rare and it was so tender and juicy. I don’t know who was in charge of the sushi, but my husband raved about the salmon avocado roll. He said it was the best he ever had there. I wish I knew who the good cooks are so I can only go when they’re handling the food. The hostess who handled my order double checked everything and was so friendly. Great experience all around.

We’ve been to Toki a lot over the years. I generally really enjoy the food although it isn’t always consistent. Sometimes you’ll get a cook that clearly knows what he’s doing and sometimes it’s not as good. I usually order the ribeye hibachi med rare. I’ve gotten the regular steak hibachi before because it’s cheaper. Even when it’s cooked properly, the steak is thinner than the hibachi which is usually tender. I would bet that the food I got is the regular steak hibachi. This has no fat, it’s very thin, it’s super overcooked, and it is dry and unappetizing. So disappointing. I shouldn’t have to be $17 super dry hibachi.
