However tonight, after two years of loving this place, my family has just been made aware that at least one of the hostesses is likely racist.
First time ever, our credit card wouldn’t work. Not their fault, that’s on us. We offered to leave our IDs, she claimed it was illegal to do so for “safety reasons”. She claimed she needed pictures of the IDs, one of our phones, and a picture of our license plate. She was denied only the phone and decided to call the police, who made her aware it is 100% NOT illegal to take IDs and simply took down our information.
If you don’t mind potentially supporting racists, food’s great. Outside of this, the restaurant is beautiful and very comfortable. We cannot wait to pay you tomorrow, like we already intended to, and never come back.
Have been coming to this place for years with many different friends and family. I travel 40 minutes from Dayton as it’s my favorite hibachi. We have paid every tab faithfully and tipped as well. Today, New Years Day, my boyfriend hasn’t been paid yet (it’s a holiday so it’s delayed) and his credit card just wont go through. We ask to pay tomorrow as he will be paid and we wont have to try to rely on the credit card, but due to “past experiences” (not with us btw. Other patrons) they refuse to let us. We offer to leave an ID as collateral and are promptly informed that it’s “illegal” for them to do so as a restaurant. A short phone call with her manager and she informs us that they will let us go if we leave an ID, phone, and they take a picture of our license plate. I find it absolutely unreasonable that they want to hold our phone(s) considering just a moment ago it was illegal to just have our ID. But with the phone it’s okay? I point this contradiction out to her and she herself is unsure why she lied about its legality and decides to just call the police on us. Us, patrons of over 3 years and she knows this. I tell her to go ahead and waste a cop’s time when all they’re going to do is take our ID information like I was already offering to them. And wouldn’t you believe it, the cops are shocked to hear she wouldnt take our ID and told her that was exactly what information he was taking down from us. I cant help but feel this is racially targeted as this area RARELY sees POC other than asians. Really loved this place but I can’t believe they called the cops on us after one card malfunction.
The fried rice was good. I had the steak and shrimp, and both were overcooked.
The serving of vegetables was so small, I thought it was a joke!
After complaining about it, I was brought more. Great service in that regard. At the completion of the Chefs work, he got no applause from our group and only one of four from the other group. We would not recommend this place for a Hibachi experience.
