The spicy edamamme was not too spicy. It was a very sweet and thick sauce, and there was alot of it. The shashito peppers was in the same sauce. Very different than other spicy edamame/shashito at other sushi restaurants.

The written menu was different than the menu on the tablet. The written menu prices were cheaper on some items. When we got our bill, they said that the written menus were old. They did not credit us. See pics.

It wasn’t very busy when we went. We didn’t get our water for a very long time. And they forgot about our shishito peppers until almost after our meal was done when we remembered we forgot them. We had to remind them about our edamame twice.

It was okay, but I would not choose again.

This place had recently taken a dive with regard to wait staff and customer service. However, over the past two months I’ve eaten there several times and the service has GREATLY improved. They do have touch screen order tablets at each table and at the bar. The wait staff is attentive, plentiful, and the food generally comes quickly. Not to mention the 5pm-close happy hour specials.

Had an appointment with mom so this is our goto in Santa Clarita, Always a pleasant hello for a greeting, seated promptly, extra care was given for my mother and her walked. So helpful! We were greeted by Janelle to serve us, what a delight. Drinks were brought promptly Janelle very helpful in our experience at Tokai Sushi. She and all the staff are wonderful keeping a nice ambiance in the restaurant.
I highly recommend Tokai sushi is you are in the area, a great menu, lunch specials as well as daily discounts!! You can thank me later!!

I visited this place twice and each time I enjoyed my experience here !
Food and service never disappoint! Very welcoming atmosphere, not too noisy/crowded and the staff is super friendly and helpful.
Sushi rolls were incredibly fresh and delicious, probably one of the best rolls I’ve tried in CA. Also, highly recommend trying their Tokai sampler which is a combination of 9 appetizers, so you can try a little bit of everything. They also have amazing lunch/happy hour specials Monday through Sunday. Can’t wait to visit again to try their omakase specials!

The best sushi place in SCV! I’ve been hooked since they opened and realized I haven’t reviewed yet. Tokai has such good quality sushi and great prices in the evenings with 30% off rolls! The servers are always so nice too – it’s self order on iPads but they’re always ready to help with great attitudes. Special shout out to our server Danny, she is the best!

Their sushi is pretty awesome, fresh and well done. The chefs are actually Japanese, who are very experienced and experts at their craft. Here you taste the fish as you’re suppose to, vs tasting rice. They’re not cheap with their fish neither. My favorite 2 rolls are the baked salmon roll and the wagyu truffle oil roll… oh man! So good and tasty! Umami and delicious! This place is a hidden gem! My go to spot for sushi now! And I’m not even from around the area! Prices are right too, how can you not love this place!

My #1 sushi favorite spot in Cali now! Great experience as I am sitting here listening to them speak Japanese to each other as well. Not to forget, the chefs are friendly and very well mannered. Awesome place! Period!

First time coming here. I stay in this area for work for weeks at a time and my coworker told me this place is a must try. Man, he wasn’t lying. I’m definitely coming back! Service was great and the food came out super fast! The quality of the fish was phenomenal, super fresh ingredients!

Unacceptable behavior and discriminatory service!
This experience was unacceptable and needs to be addressed.
We were dining at Tokai Sushi and speaking Ukrainian between ourselves, while communicating with the server in English, which is completely normal in the United States.
At one point, the waitress pushed us to speak Russian and directly asked if we spoke Russian. We calmly and politely replied that we do not speak Russian and prefer English.
After that moment, her attitude changed instantly and dramatically:
• her facial expression became hostile and annoyed
• she stopped engaging professionally
• she walked away without completing our order
• she never returned to our table
As a result, another server had to come over and we were forced to repeat our entire order from scratch, even though we had already placed parts of it during two previous interactions. This caused unnecessary delays, confusion, and ruined the dining experience.
This is not just bad service — this is unprofessional, biased behavior. A customer’s language preference should never affect the quality of service, especially when the customer is communicating in English.
In a normal, professional establishment, staff do not punish guests for refusing to speak a language they are uncomfortable with. This behavior is unacceptable and deeply disappointing.
