Spacious place, clean. Small downside is that the space makes it hard to flag the server over, and there’s only the one person working the front during lunch on a weekday (Thursday, to be specific, at 1pm).
I was the only customer for about ten minutes, before a table of three came in. The guy out front was quite attentive to me, which I appreciated. However, he did disappear for a small stretch, and that happened to be when the other table arrived. They stood there for about two minutes before he emerged? Some of the music choices were also a little odd, but not something I’d hold against a restaurant lol
As I was only coming in for a quick lunch, I only got the takoyaki, as shown in the pics. For takoyaki, it was pretty quick! It had a good amount of squid inside, which I liked. The free dessert that I got for making this review is also shown. Cake was pretty good! Strong matcha flavor, and not too sweet. My bill came out to $10.66, before gratuity. Overall, I’d recommend!
Pricy for what you get.
Flavors were bland despite aesthetic presentation:
spicy ramen soup was missing salt and pork belly was fattier than most I’ve had. The broth was missing so much flavor overall.
Karaage chicken bao buns- chicken itself was cooked well and juicy, but the bao bun was missing some acidic component like a pickled veggie and more sauce and the buns were getting stuck to the tray they came in.
The Takoyaki was well seasoned, but also seemed to be missing spices and I wish it had more octopus in it.
My husband ordered the Korean chicken rice bowl which was cooked well, but it was mostly rice and the saving grace were the few prices of juicy flavorful fried chicken.
The place is huge and spacious and was not busy around the time we went. Loud Japanese pop music in background- wouldn’t mind if the volume were lower.
I think it has a lot potential if the flavors were improved.
Soup and toppings are really incredible. So delicious!
Also kara age chicken highly recommend.
They have updated their menu. Onigiri comes with many different options for inside ingredients. Spicy chicken is good, flavor has a small kick. Salmon feels short, very blend. I feel seaweed is not fresh. Not crispy at all.
Tonkatsu ramen is amazing as always. I add the veggie gyoza (+$5) on the side. Really good and flavorful.
Service is great. Very attentive and friendly. Food comes out quick. Bathroom is not working, but there’s one right outside by the mall concierge area.
There was a good selection of appetizers and a few dessert options as well. The restaurant had an open, spacious feel, and the background music added a nice touch to the cozy ambiance. Overall, a hidden gem in the mall—I’m definitely looking forward to coming back.
We were only allowed to order drinks and appetizers at first and told we couldn’t order our entrees yet. Our drinks alone took about 20 minutes, and while we were still waiting for simple appetizers (miso soup and agedashi tofu), multiple older couples who arrived 30 minutes after us were seated, served drinks, appetizers, and full meals within about 20 minutes.
Both my friend and I are teenagers, and it was very noticeable that we — along with another table of teenagers — were consistently ignored while older guests were prioritized. Our waitress often sped past our table, and we had to flag her down just to ask if we could finally order our entrees after an hour of waiting. Even then, she responded with uncertainty.
When our food finally arrived, it was incorrect. We both ordered a bulgogi rice bowl with no cheese, but both dishes came with cheese. Sending it back took another 30 minutes, and when it returned, items were still missing (no kimchi). By that point, we’d been there so long that we’d lost our appetite. Our food was barely touched, and no one offered to box it up or acknowledge the situation.
We paid and left frustrated. If the assumption was that teenagers don’t tip, this kind of service is exactly why that becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. We always tip well for good service — this just wasn’t it.
Very disappointing experience.
