Tocabe, An American Indian Eatery

  4.7 – 3 reviews  $ • Native American restaurant

Tocabe is currently the only American Indian owned and operated restaurant in Metro Denver specializing in Native American cuisine. Our co-owners, Matt Chandra and Ben Jacobs, were inspired to open Tocabe by Grayhorse: An American Indian Eatery, which was established in 1989 by the Jacobs family. As part of the Osage Nation, Tocabe utilizes our American Indian roots to help educate people on indigenous culture.

Contemporary, counter-serve Native American spot with build-your-own tacos, bison ribs & nachos.

This place was fantastic! I have never experienced a place quite like this, it is a similar setup to restaurants like chipotle and subway, but it is American Indian food! My wife and I both got shredded Buffalo meat and an assortment of toppings and everything tastes fresh and very good quality. Would highly recommend this to someone who is looking to try something new and has an adventurous heart.

Great food with the added bonus of having a connection to Indigenous peoples. Wide range of selections that you can tailor to your taste. The staff is great and can help you choose what you want. I had the taco with shredded bison which was excellent. They have a nice patio to sit and eat outside.

This was hands down the best new restaurant I’ve tried in a while! We were driving through town and this place sounded interesting, and I’m so glad we stopped in. I had the Indian taco with shredded bison and it was delicious. We also tried the fry bread nuggets which were like a hot mini powdered donut. We got two boxes and they went way too quick. The staff was super helpful and explained the differences between all the things, and the bathrooms were clean and nice. The next time I’m coming thru Denver we are stopping here again for sure!

Saw this on divers drive-ins and dives. While in Colorado we thought what the heck let’s go try out American Indian food.

It’s close to downtown, lots of people and the line is long but the fooooooood is so amazing and fresh and locally sourced. You can taste the difference from most places. It’s kind of pricy but that’s if you get bison 😉 I didn’t see anything for a kids menu but I didn’t look very hard there were alot of people.

The food was so delicious! The fry bread was the perfect amount of sweetness. The Indian Taco plate was very tasty and a good portion. Service was great and parking was easy.

Everything was so fresh and prices are great. I paid $10 for my vegetarian taco. The green chilis are so flavorful and the fry bread was perfectly cooked. If you’re coming for the ribs call ahead. They said that they don’t always have them ready for lunch time. If you’re in Denver this place is worth a stop

A friend from Denver gave us two options for lunch and said “I’m glad you picked Tocabe”– Turns out so were we. A set-up like Chipotle and a clear menu makes ordering easy. The fry bread for the Indian Taco was as good as any I’ve had at New Mexico Pueblos or roadside stands on the Navajo nation. (I’d skip the hominy next time — it’s a sweet version, served cold). Bison ribs were tender and a LOT of food. Staff is very helpful. A really good experience overall.

In town for the week and was curious if there were any native restaurants in this area. I saw Tocabe, and craved an NDN taco for days. Finally made it thru and it was worth it! I had the signature “fancy” taco and my husband had the bison ribs. My frybread craving was more than satisfied. Once I tasted the ribs, I had mad plate envy!!! The last photo is of a local enjoying frybread too.

SO GOOD, every time I come here again I’m newly amazed by how delicous it is. Very vegetarian friendly, which is much appreciated! My friends who eat meat enjoyed as well. Such unique flavors that you can’t get anywhere else. I’ve been here several times and it is always great
