My top dishes were the miso butter scallops and the salmon sashimi flight. They tasted amazing!
Other items ordered that were alright:
– unagi mami (eel roll)
– American Wagyu (tender, thought it would be a bit more svaory)
– Sake toro (salmon belly)
Daily Specials were ok:
– inada nigiri (young yellowtail) & mejina/black sea bream sashimi (chewier than expected)
Kuropan (squid ink milk bread w/ Thai tea ice cream) was my favorite dessert. Ube churros were good except the ube dip (plain and lacked flavor). The calamansi and ube ice cream were solid though.
Excited to try other menu items in the future!
A little more clarity on pricing would have made the experience much better.
Shrimp tempura slices: 15/10
Shishito Peppers: 8/10
Brussel Sprouts: 9/10
Chicken Udon: 10/10
Extra Shaggy: 10/10
Steve-o: 10/10
The spice level can be adjusted on any dish.
Service was great. I failed to get the gentleman’s name, but he knew extensively of the menu, he was kind and you can tell he thinks highly of the level of the food they offer.
We stopped by on a Wednesday evening and it was not crowded at all. Seating outside, or booth or table inside. The lights are low but not dark.
Everything was clean and the atmosphere felt inviting.
We highly enjoyed every single bite!! Even my 3 year old daughter enjoyed the mushrooms that came with her udon. She ate the shrimp tempura, and loved her udon noodles! They even mixed some egg in rice for her and she enjoyed that as well!
My husband doesn’t eat the raw meat so we just stick with the only 2 cooked rolls that they offer and boy were they good!!
From the level of service and food here, I think this might be the first place that he might want to explore a taste of real sushi. I will definitely order more of the tempting menu on our next visit. This place is definitely one to be visited and explored. Your taste buds will thank you ♥️
Our only complaint is that for the ube churros, the ube dip tasted like it was just whipped cream with purple food coloring (the ube ice cream and calamansi sauce were great though).
Despite that, we would definitely go back for more and recommend Tobiuo to others.
I enjoyed dining here. The service was attentive and friendly without being a burden. The presentation of the dishes was colorful eye-candy. There was no wait for a Sunday dinner.
Each dish we ordered was unique with it’s own personality. They all stirred excitement and eagerness to try within our group. Everything we tasted was on point and left us wanting more. I appreciated the creativity and detail put into everything we ordered.
Highlight: Cilantro Hamachi – Refreshing roll that cleanses your palette with every bite.
I highly recommend dining here.
First the atmosphere was very cold and I heard a couple next to us have that complaint also. It’s also dark in a non romantic way. All the servers, kitchen, and the sushi chefs behind the sushi bar- as I looked around to call for our waiter several times- were enjoying socializing together like they were wasting time. They seemed happy to be hanging out and talking in groups. By the front door, by the sushi bar and by the kitchen entrance. Our first waiter was the worst, he seemed to be in a hurry to take our request and walk quickly off.. without asking if anyone else needed anything else. When ordering wine and sake, no recommendations were given. There was one waiter that saved us, had a smile and was helpful, thank you.
The menu is very vague, explain more what the different categories were, didn’t know whether they were rolls or plates….
We did mention it was our first time there but did not get any recommendations on specials or drinks, or an overview of the menu.
It is unfortunate because I was being treated for my birthday and my company I could tell we’re disappointed to try this new place on this occasion.
It is pricey, so you should expect more than food on a dish.
We definitely would not recommend it or would we try again.
Management? Training issues? I don’t know. The over all vibe is not welcoming.
To end in a positive note, we had the shiso crunchy , the lime ebi, sashimi set, calamari, which were all very good.
