Toast, New American Gastropub, first
In September of 2017 in the Village Shopping Center, the second location of Toast opened west of Richmond and south of the river at Winterfield Place at the corner of Robious and Winterfield Roads.
Serving cuisine inspired by southern classics with a twist, Toast’s large menu offers a wide variety and selection. We are happy to accommodate most allergy needs and have a large gluten free menu available. We look forward to serving you and your family soon!

Fun spot for lunch. Great service! Tried the shrimp and crab nachos, which were fantastic, with lots of crab. A half serving was enough for two. Also tried the Thai salad. Great flavors and fresh veggies. Huge covered outdoor area makes this a great spot for almost any time of the year.

Toast is a great spot and it doesn’t disappoint! Food has always been great, so has the service, and the selection of beers is a nice addition. The chicken wings are HUGE! Only 2 flavors but hey, keep it simple and do it right! That’s exactly what Toast had done.

Today, we tried TOAST at Winterfield Place for the first time! It was so good! The fried pickles were a bit too thick for our liking, but they were still pretty good (just a personal preference). The pimento cheese wontons are absolutely delicious!! My husband got the Breakfast Burger (with fries), and I had the Nashville Chicken Sandwich (with sweet potato fries, which are waffle shaped). He said his burger was delicious and as for my chicken sandwich, it was fantastic. However, even though it was “Nashville chicken,” it wasn’t very spicy. So edible for both the spicy and non-spicy eaters. 😛
The restaurant setting is casual, and the hostess was welcoming upon arrival. Our waiter (Nathan A) was very friendly, and though the restaurant was busy at the time, he didn’t skip a beat. Great waiter!
We would absolutely recommend this location and would obviously come back to try more items on the menu.

We’ve made reservations for a Sunday dinner. There were six of us and we were quickly seated when we arrived. We decided to sit outdoors and they have a very nice outdoor area. Our server quickly took our drink order and then our appetizers. We ordered the crispy brussel sprouts and were amazed by how crispy they were all the way through. There were light and airy. They were evenly browned all the way through. They could have used a little more balsamic to make the flavor pop but the Parmesan cheese on them was good. I also ordered a large bowl of She Crab Soup. I think it needed just a little more sherry to make it pop. There was plenty of crab meat and a good size portion. We also got the Gouda sliders. The perfect flavor between smoked gouda and beef. The buns were excellent and those flavors were excellently paired together. It was not hard to hear each other outside which is always a bonus. I walked around the inside and there was a nice sized bar area as well as indoor seating which seem to be quaint. The manager, Justin, came by and checked on us to make sure that our meals were good. He seemed to be very pleasant and very interested in making sure that we had the best of everything.
I was amazed by the lack of customers there. It was a beautiful Sunday evening, 72° out and a wonderfully pleasant evening.
They also have another area (Garden) that has fire pits and Adirondack chairs where they also set up a bar and have food out there also. They occasionally set up live music and that looks very interesting. We will probably make it back for one of those evenings.

First time trying this place out and I have to say the food and service were Amazing! I was pleasantly surprised. We did the burgers which were perfect, however difficult to eat because they are so large. Also did the fries with their homemade ketchup and Brussels. The ketchup, in my opinion, is delicious! It’s kind of sweet cinnamon tasting, but yummy. So yummy I talked them into selling me some, so Thank you Toast! We also did Bloody Mary’s which weren’t terrible, but not great either. The atmosphere is alright, kinda dingy and dark but inviting. All in all, great place to eat and I’d definitely go back!

It was our first time eating at Toast. The food was delicious! We ordered the brussel sprout appetizer, a Thai salad with shrimp, and a brunch plate. Thai chili sauce was a great complement to the shrimp.
Our waitress was wonderful and attentive. She kept our drinks full and kept smiles on our faces!
The only reason this isn’t a five-star review is the state of the restrooms. Men’s room was dark, dingy, and smelled bad.
Be aware, we were asked if we had a reservation (Saturday lunch), so plan accordingly.
All in all, a great experience and we will return!

A little pricey but surprisingly tasty food with decent portion. Expecting the usual bar food type I was actually impressed.
The one knock was the beer glasses were tiny, maybe suitable for special high abv drinks, but not for regular IPA or beers. Definitely contributing to my pricey comment earlier

Atmosphere is quiet, good to meet and talk with friends. The menu is eclectic and should be downtown with the other ‘foodie’ places as they try to make ordinary food so different, most people won’t like it. They were not busy, so I think my opinion is warranted. They had donuts on the menu and I was served grease- fried burnt balls of dough with a very small plastic cup of syrup. It was disgusting. The staff was friendly but the food was so bad, I will not be making a return anytime soon.

I went in because I saw they had a ton of gluten free options and I loved the variety on their menu. I’m gluten, dairy and soy free. Unfortunately, all their items are fried in soybean oil. I ended up getting a burger with black beans on the side. It was done done perfectly at medium. My wife got the crab and shrimp nachos and she said it was fantastic.
