On a Sunday, I looked up breakfast restaurants and found this place. Perfect food with perfect portioning. Quiet and delicious. Pictures of the shrimp grits I ordered tells the story, see for yourself.

7/12/25 – I’ve been here few times now. I really love the aesthetic of this place. The entrance you go through the garden before entering the building. Every time I have been I am amazed at their Rosemary bush. There is some sitting right in front of the building and then some in the back that is shared with the place next door. They have nice drinks but can be a little bit more on the expensive side. I haven’t really had any of their food but friends usually get their hot dogs or glizzy as they would say. I’ve only come at night to enjoy the bar scene. The additional back yard area with seating is pretty cool. They have shipping containers. The last time I went I got the Wanda vision for a drink and it was delicious. It was a nice floral tasting, which is my favorite. Like I said I really like the vibe here and love to come for some drinks and outdoor area.

Come here for happy hour or brunch! Perfect outdoor garden seating on a beautiful day. Creative cocktails and absolutely delish dishes (even on rainy days the chili or grits bowls are such a comfort). You truly cannot go wrong. Very nourishing and satisfying food. Friendly and attentive staff. Will continue to come back again and again!

Very cool eclectic vibe. Ginger beer needs to be sold in growlers or some sort of takeaway. It is very good. The mushroom gravy was delicious. I am picky about menus being explicit. I had avocado toast which was good but came with a bag of chips which is beneath the vibe. There was a parenthetical suggestion to add frittata (which says potato and egg to me) but didn’t indicate the up charge. I think suggesting a side of tots (ore ida? Though well cooked super crunchy) or small servings of grits would have been nice. Portions are large. Friend had chili with pulled chicken which was great. Another had park place bowl… Crispy tots and mushroom gravy with other flavors… Very good. Next time I am going to try the sos. Server didn’t offer or even make note of the specials which included dill pickle soup which we would have tried but missed the specials board. hope to try next time. We will go back for dinner drinks to catch the perro Blanco food next door. Service was fine but didn’t sell the place. Reading the 1 star reviews, we were checked in, food came timely, they bussed our table. Just service didn’t live up to the vibe.

I specifically spoke with staff about the three things that create a flawless experience. Food, service, and atmosphere. They nailed it. This chef here makes every item with love. The plating and display are phenomenal. The staff is pleasant, personable, and efficient. The food was so far above expectations I had to review. The drinks were once again on another level. Now let’s get to atmosphere, it was quaint, small but welcoming, and just the right size to feel personable yet provide a booming experience. I will come here again when I am in Virginia. Kait, thanks!!!

The food is so good here!!! I’ve eaten at Toast several times but never left a review. Today’s dish changed that. I had to say something today!!! My taste buds and my body did the most silly dance as I enjoyed every bite of my meal! The food was so fresh and flavorful!!! I had the Pig Taco and my husband had the Quiche Me! If you are reading this you must try it!!! The cocktails are great as well! I will be back again very soon!

This place is exactly where you should go if you’re in Norfolk. It’s small enough to have that intimate feel, but has room for groups to sit at a table. The food is beyond delicious and they have pretty much whatever drink you’d like.

Food was delicious cute little place. But very expensive for the amount of food you get I paid about $60 for my 3 items which was a bread pudding with two pieces of bacon and ice cream, quiche and salad, and a toast with salmon that I ordered to go. Not big portions for it to cost so much but it was good.
