Recommended by several locals, I had to give Tlahcos a try. I wasn’t disappointed. I sat at the bar. The bartender, Estaphanie, was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. My margarita was fresh and perfect. The chips and (spicy)salsa were great. So was the Aztec Queso Fundido and Gobernador Tacos (so good)! I was there early so there was no crowd and it wasn’t too loud. Only drawback was the hostess didn’t understand what I was asking. I said I wanted to sit at the bar. She handed me a menu and waved me toward the bar, like she couldn’t be bothered. Normally a host would walk you over to your seat. It was odd. Thanks goodness the food was so good.

My husband and I decided to make the drive from Greenwood and try Tlahcos one evening. It’s beautiful inside and literally gives resort restaurant vibes with the music and decor. We were pleasantly surprised at the menu options. They offered different entrees than most Mexican restaurants. They were not flexible at all with the side dish substitutions but the service was still friendly.

The decor inside is different and fun which brings with it an upscale atmosphere. We have driven by many times and finally decided to give it a try.
I had higher expectations for the food given the high prices but sadly I was not impressed and left feeling like I “wasted” my night out on a meal that was sub-par.
We ordered the “Dip de Queso Jalapeno” which says it’s a jalapeno cheese dip that brings bolds flavors. The queso was a basic tasting queso; there were no bold or jalapeno flavors and the bottom of the bowl had chunks of cheese that hadn’t melted.
The chips and house salsa was never refilled.
Tuesday is $5 off of a margarita but it only applies to the house margarita (not their muddled options). It was a basic margarita, nothing outstanding but a simple staple.
My friend ordered the entree “Alambre” solely based on the description that it was “generously smothered in melted cheese.” When it arrived, there was a small area with cheese. It was neither generous OR smothered.
I decided to try tacos as those should be a stand out staple at any mexican/latin restaurant. The Thalupas Lokas were basic ground beef tacos that quite honestly, Taco Bell does better on their dollar menu. It did say that “the flour tortilla embraces a hard corn shell” and when I have ordered tacos like that at other locations, there is usually cheese or a seasoning between the two, to elevate the taste and hold them together. This was not the case as the hard shell was just sitting on the soft shells (which were also overheated and crunchy). There was no salsa included which left the dish bland as the meat was not well seasoned. I did substitute the refried beans with a second portion of rice. The rice was well cooked and seasoned; seemingly the only thing well seasoned.

There are other restaurants in Hendricks county that have phenomenal food for the price and sadly, that is not the case for Tlahcos.

Y’all the food is TO DIE FOR… yes it is pricey but the portions are huge, the authenticity is and the craft is insane.

The chef puts so much effort into each dish to make it unique and flavorful. I am not sure how they can afford to go above and beyond like they do but it is more than appreciated.

Drinks were good but not super strong. Average meals were $20-30. Drinks are $12+.

This is a high end taco place so dress nice and plan a date. Don’t show up last minute with friends or you’ll feel under dressed.

I went mid day during the week and the place was dead. The place was quiet and beautiful. I imagine it’s awesome during the weekend and very lively. I would go here again and again if i had the money.

Very professional and polite ! That was the best; the waiter was informative and helped up decide on dishes and drinks. The cocktails were perfect, the steak was very well prepared and the presentation was spot on.
Notice to the those thinking this is just a regular Mexican restaurant it is not, it is an upscale dining restaurant.

This place was awesome. Clean, cozy, nicely decorated, friendly, great staff and best of all GREAT food. I got the skirt steak and it was incredible. The beans are amazing. Our waitress was very attentive and super nice. Great experience. They have a mix of booths and tables. Great place for a date night.

Overall I’d recommend stopping here! The atmosphere was perfect. It’s clean, good music that’s loud but not too loud, beautiful decor including the restrooms! The patio is a great touch. Lunch specials are well priced. The rice and salsa were a little more bland than expected but the chicken and margarita were perfection. My server was very nice and attentive. I went for lunch on a Tuesday and it wasn’t crowded at all.

Overall it was a C+ for our first time. Due to absurd wait times after ordering and being saved through flavors.

The astetics are beautiful at this place. Very well designed and high class. Make you feel like it’s going to be fire at this place. But then you sit….

Took over an hour to get two of our orders while one person’s order came out 30min before the other two got theirs. Why???? Very Very very disappointed.

Moving on to the food.taste.

1. The ceviche was great, tasted amazing with that pineapple cocktail sauce drizzled all over it, gave it a 9/10.

2. Molchjete was fire! 9/10 in flavor, 5/10 cost ratio compared to other places. The stesk, chicken, 3 shrimp, cactus were all seasoned to perfection. Loved it all in taste.

3. The steak fajitas in Chipotle sauce were lacking. 4/10. Half the meat some had no kiss of seasoning. Everyone tried it and everyone didn’t like it. We ended up taking it home and giving it to the dogs.

5. Yellow rice: 3/10 whoever likes this congrats, you need to go try actual Spanish or Mexican rice that has flavor and come back to try and then rate it. It was the worst we have ever had from any place and would next time ask to pass on it in all our dishes. I mean I know it’s not “Spanish rice” but at a place like this I expected it so… Disappointed greatly

6. Drinks were 9/10 amazing. Go here for their bar. Love it…
