Food was great. Best jalapeno poppers I’ve probably ever had. The quesadilla birria was good too. Not the best I’ve had but good. You lady that took my order was super friendly and helpful in explaining exactly what everything was when I ordered. Oh and she recommended the bean dip or soup and I was reluctant because I’m not a big beans guy but it was delicious.

I had the huarache with cochinita pibil, and it was outstanding. The huarache was perfectly cooked with just the right texture, and the cochinita pibil had the kind of rich, slow-roasted flavor that reminded me of Oaxaca. As a starter, we were served beans with a hint of chorizo, simple but delicious. The totopos were crisp, fresh, and had that perfect crunch that’s easy to get wrong but they nailed it.
My daughter ordered the quesabirria, and it was another hit. The birria was full of flavor, tender, and paired perfectly with rice that was cooked to perfection, not an afterthought like in so many other places. Every detail felt intentional, from the appetizers to the main dishes.
Tlahco doesn’t just serve food, it delivers an experience rooted in authenticity and quality. It’s the kind of place where every bite tells a story.

We are foodies so we are well versed and try many different things. The food is 10/10. The service is 10/10. All of the staff are very friendly. I may be biased but our waitress Anna was amazing, knows the menu and went out of her way to make sure our table was taken care of every time. We tried other places in the area and ended up right back here….daily. Everything is made fresh. The cafe de olla is unmatched. You can actually taste the canela and you don’t need to add a thing. The menudo is flavorful. The conchas are served hot and fresh with nata (homemade whipped cream). Heaven. Don’t even waste your time trying other breakfast spots. This is it!! They also have lunch/dinner. Wide variety of options available to choose from. You will not be disappointed.

No Tex-Mex here! More authentic Mexican restaurants are getting harder to come by here in the San Antonio area. This one feels more like what Mexican food should be. Food was great! I had the enchiladas Mexicanas which were delish and very filling. Everyone else at our table enjoyed their meal. The warm conchas are a must!

Decided to go a little out of our way for breakfast while in San Antonio and found this place. The food was beyond amazing!!! So glad we found this place. The authentic Mexican flavors were throughout everything we had. From the Cafe de Olla, Aguacate Toast to the Chilaquiles, every bite was excellent. Highly recommend and we will be back (may even have to drive the 3 hours from home just to eat there again). Gave a 4 star on atmosphere only because the restaurant is nothing fancy – they obviously have focused on providing delicious, quality food at a reasonable price.

Came here because I saw the reviews and left with nothing but disappointment. Food was very expensive for what you got. Easily at least 15.00 per plate and the quality/quantity just isnt there.
Ordered Enchiladas Potosinas and got the saddest looking “enchiladas” plate ive ever received. Stuff was rock hard and tasted reheated. For a 15.00 plate, you only get 4 thin, exceedingly hard enchiladas with nothing else but a side of smashed beans.
On top of that, I was given a glass of water with old food stains and “floaters” on it.
Like I stated, for the price I expected something much better. Way below expectations unless you think sub-par “Mexican” food is good.

The Cafe de Olla, huevos Benitos, migas, & conchas were spectacular!!! We were checked on often. The papas have an amazing flavor. The conchas came out warm… will definitely be back to try the lunch menu next time I’m in town…

Coming from Arizona, I had very high expectations of the Mexican food in San Antonio. I was very disappointed with all the Tex-mex options, until I found Tlahco. This place has honestly been one of the best parts of moving to San Antonio. My husband and I eat here at least once a week and we can’t get enough of it. The service is impeccable and the food is always scrumptious. We have never had one bad experience and are so thankful to have this place not too far from our house.

We’ve ordered from this place twice and both times gotten the Parrillada Mixta al Carbon for 2 – steak, chicken, shrimp, sausage, quesadillas, jalapeno poppers, roasted corn, grilled onions, guacamole, salsas, tortillas, rice, and beans. And hooooly moly.
The second time we ordered we were nervous that we were overthinking how good it was the first time. Thank goodness we were not. It was just as good on round two. Highly, highly recommend.
