We live on Oahu and stopped in on a whim while searching for authentic Mexican food — and this place absolutely delivered. The flavors were spot-on and felt genuinely authentic, which can be hard to find here.

Parking is easy with both street parking and nearby public lots available.

The restaurant sits toward the back of the square with plenty of seating. It’s not very visible from the road, but there’s a sign that makes it easy enough to find once you’re close.

This place was comically bad. Not only is this in NO WAY authentic Mexican, absolutely nothing was made fresh and both the shrimp and baja fish tacos tasted terrible. Tortillas were stale and tasted of freezer burn, they used Japanese tempura shrimp, and the salad looked like it just came from a lettuce packet. Many 5/5 of the reviews are either fake or from people who have never eaten Mexican food before. Save your money and eat elsewhere.

Tlacuaches 808 is a hidden gem tucked into Eaton Square, and it absolutely delivers on flavor and hospitality. We ordered online and we chose to walk out to pick up. and ended up savoring one of the best taco experiences we’ve had in Honolulu.

We ordered the Birria Tacos, which were rich, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The consommé on the side was a game-changer -deep, savory, and ideal for dipping.

The portions were generous, and the food felt homemade in the best way. You can tell they take pride in their ingredients – everything from the fresh herbs to the slow-cooked meats tasted authentic and thoughtfully prepared.

Service was warm and welcoming. Even though it’s a casual takeout-style spot, the staff made sure we felt taken care of.
Prices are fair considering the quality and quantity, and the vibe is relaxed and friendly. Tlacuaches 808 hits the mark.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend for anyone craving real Mexican street food with heart.

This was one of the hidden gems we found during our vacation to Hawaii. Although it’s located a little further away from the Waikiki area, it’s 100% worth the walk. The tacos were spectacular. The portions were big and our order for 2 was more than we could eat in one sitting. The one thing to be aware of is that there isn’t any sitting available inside. There are a couple of seats and tables outside but most customers seemed to take the food to go. In any case, if you’re coming to Hawaii, from an overseas country, this spot will be the closest you get to real Mexican food.

Honestly speakin the food here was on point, great taste, near authentic.. but overall great! Portions match the price.. just check out the pics.. Not a place to sit and eat but if you like you can find a couple of tables outside and eat with the pigeons.. Literally.

Fun little surprise in the Eaton Square area. The food was delicious and packed with flavor. For $25, the portion was generous. There’s only outdoor seating, but that wasn’t a dealbreaker. The meal was spicy, flavorful, and I really liked the variety of protein options.

We visited Tlacuaches 808 after a long day of walking in Waikiki. We ordered the Birria Tacos and the Beef Burrito. I can say, this place is absolutely amazing. We loved the food so much! The heat level is up there, but that is how we like it. The portions are very big, so big that we took the burrito away and ate it later at home. These might have been our favorite tacos ever. Thanks a lot and hopefully we will visit again!

I recently had the pleasure of trying the Birria Tacos & Crispy Carnitas at Tlacuaches 808, and I was blown away! The tacos were incredibly fresh, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. I am not exaggerating, it’s the best on the Island. The consomé was rich and delicious, adding an extra layer of depth to the meal. The carnitas was crispy and flavorful perfect with corn tortillas. Everything about this experience was great, better than any Mexican west of Mississippi ….I’ll definitely be back for more!

Traveled to Waikīkī on a business trip. While there, my wife, son and I paid Tlacuaches 808 a visit after my Uber driver recommended them. I was not ready for the amount of food that was served. Everything was fresh and authentic, exactly what I was looking for in Mexican food. No doubt will I be back in the future!!!
