We loved our dinner at TJ’s Restaurant. All dishes were delicious. The complimentary starter was a lovely touch. The waitresses were all attentive and friendly. Highly recommended restaurant.

We had the most wonderful meal at TJ’s on our summer getaway. The waitress, Helen, was very accommodating when we asked to sit on the balcony even though we had not reserved a seat outside.
The views were stunning across the harbour. Service was excellent, Helen was so friendly and chatty.
The food was incredible, not a bad word to say about any of it. We had the scallops, calamari & mushrooms to start, mussels & steak for the main.
Would highly recommend and will definitely return in the future.

As you can see, I very rarely leave negative reviews but sadly this really wasn’t a great experience. Outside was dirty & should have gone with our gut reaction to not go in. Had booked for a 50th birthday meal. Waiter didn’t know what gins were available to start with. This weird spiral crisp thing came out with a tiny pot of Branston Pickle. Partner had Mussell’s to start, small portion for the price & sauce not great. I had what was meant to be garlic mushrooms, really not sure what the purple colour was, tasted weird and no garlic flavour. I had lamb shank, it was meant to be with garlic flavour mash, it had no flavour & tasted like smash. Vegetables were minimal. Partner had steak which was pre sliced, never seen anything like it. If we’d have paid half of what we paid I’d have still been disappointed. Such a shame as the view is amazing. I leave so many positive reviews but this was sadly so bad & especially bad as it was a 50th birthday. Please don’t waste your money. We couldn’t get out quick enough.

We really enjoyed our supper at TJs. The mussels were delicious and the starters (scallops and prawns) were both really good. The cute spiral cut crisp starter was also a nice touch. We thought the service was great and my nine year old also rated the music You might be forgiven for thinking TJs a tad run down from the outside but is very much alive and kicking and worth a visit. The service was attentive and very fast and someone is working their magic in the kitchen and doing that seafood proud.

Stunning food, creatively prepared, using locally sourced ingredients. Had the scallops and lobster, both fantastic, and heard nothing but praise for the dishes other guests were eating. Lovely! Plus the mini desserts were a delight.

A hidden gem! This unassuming (on the outside) restaurant proved a great find!
The food tasted and looked exquisite!
The ingredients were fresh, of high quality, and the chef seems to have the magic touch.
The restaurant’s interior is beautiful, with a marine theme going on, both colour-wise and in terms of the decoration style.
The waiting staff were very knowledgeable about the menu, dilligent and professional.
Everything looked immaculately clean and well maintained, with a superb attention to detail.
We understood that the Scottish owners took over an old café some years ago, and completely reinvented the place!
The whole restaurant has an undeniable “feel-good” vibe about it, and the views from the terrace (there is seating available there too) towards the harbour are nothing short of amazing!
All in all, I spent an enchanted evening with my friend at TJ’s, over a scrumptious dinner.
So, if you spend some time in Paignton and want to have a great meal for a decent price, this is a fantastic place that will deliver just that. And then some!… We will certainly come back.

They had a bit of a mare with the fish delivery yesterday, it was not up to their usual great standards so the rejected shoddy half of it this meant they were short for Friday night service. It was busy and the 2 service staff did all they could. The food was 1st class once it eventually arrived! We had cod instead of the sea bass which was finished. Beautifully cooked and the veg was also delicious. They tried hard in difficult circumstances so cannot mark them down for this.
