Very laid back place. Has a pool table, dart boards and slots. The food is great. Not a big menu so they get it right. Servers are great. Nice local bar!!!!!

I came in here with a friend who didn’t have an id and he was Indian and didn’t consume alcohol. It was mid day and got terrible service from the bar tender and she treated me very poorly thinking I was slinging him shots on the side. I tried to let her know he does not drink it’s against his religion, can he sit here and watch the game with us? And she said yes. We were with other friends and she continued to investigate me and hunt me down, whilst they treated the regulars with a ton of respect… not coming back, very rude.

They had chili on special but it was not good. It was 5.50 for a bowl and it was barely as good as a can of Hormel. The bartender was a bit of an airhead and forgot my friends chili order twice. Good atmosphere though, pool, darts, and slot machines.

Wow. I absolutely love TJ O’Brien’s. I went there on a Wednesday afternoon for a quick drink before my dinner date. Service was very fast and the bartender was nice. I always appreciate a bartender that’s willing to have a genuine conversation and crack a few jokes (shout out Jaclyn!). Other bar patrons were friendly and made it feel like a home away from home. I can’t recommend this spot enough if you’re looking for a drink in downtown palatine!
