Tj Golden Bowl is a great place for Chinese cuisine in Little Elm. There is more on the menu for us to try, so we will definitely visit again.
To start, we ordered the egg drop soup. We asked for a cup, but it was actually pretty big. It was okay not amazing, not bad. I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5.
Next beef spring rolls. They were good and tasty, but a little greasy, so I’d also rate those a 3.5.
We also ordered the seaweed salad, and unfortunately, this one was not good at all. It didn’t taste fresh, it was very oily and wilted. We honestly didn’t even eat it. I’d give that one a 1.
We also tried the winter roll sushi. It was good and tasted fresh, which I appreciated, but it did lack a little flavor. I’d give it a 3.5
For the main dishes, we had a fried rice combination. The fried rice was pretty bland , overcooked and not tasty, so I’d give it a 2.
The lo mein combination, on the other hand, was better. It came with vegetables, shrimp, beef, and chicken. It had a nice smoky flavor with soy sauce and was actually pretty good. That one gets a 4.
Lastly, the Chinatown combination, which comes with vegetables, beef, chicken, shrimp, brown sauce, and steamed rice. This was probably my least favorite dish, right after the seaweed salad. The sauce was on the sweet side, the veggies had a frozen flavor. Because of that, I really didn’t enjoy this plate.
The service was pretty slow. I had to ask different servers for plates, napkins, and chopsticks. The place is small, so I’m not sure if they’re new or still getting organized, but the service was definitely not on point.
Overall, the place is small, clean, and cozy definitely feels like a neighborhood restaurant. The takeout bags are a cool touch. That said, I’m not sure I would go back. Between the slow service and the food being a bit inconsistent and lacking flavor, it just didn’t fully win me over.
Nice staff, fancy interior, calm music so it is comfortable to speak.
Soup with wonton was really good, chicken bouillon with beef wontons.
Sushi I didn’t like. I prefer traditional ones. These came with mayo, had a flat taste. Ginger and wasabi had very soft taste.
Mongolian beef. Maybe it is Texas tradition, but it shouldn’t have so much onions (I would say it was an onion with meat). Also I expected the beef to be more fried and with sesame seeds.
In general the food was nutritious but it is definitely not a Chinese/Japaneese cuisine.
It took only 15 mins for them to get my order ready, I was impressed by that because when you order online it doesn’t state how long it will take to get your order, it just says that they received your order. As far as the ambience goes, I was able to see only as I walked in, it’s nice and very fancy. Next time, I will actually go in and dine in, then I’ll update my review.

Update:
We went and dined in, and to be truly honest, I would rather order out. It’s a preference for me because I don’t really like a few things: the seating was uncomfortable, the lighting was a little too bright, the temperature was set to very cold…
On the other hand, the service was so-so. The young woman who served us seemed to be too active doing random things besides serving and it seemed to us that she was ignoring us at times when we were ready to order and when we were ready to pay…
The food is definitely delicious and fresh, but I was disappointed with my Natalie’s Favorite dish, which was a vegetarian dinner made of tofu and an assortment of fresh vegetables according to the description. It was more tofu than vegetables, and I was really expecting to see a lot of veggies since it stated it had carrots, broccoli, snow peas, mushrooms and I believe also water chestnuts in a brown sauce… I just feel a bit robbed by the veggie part of it…
