While we are the oldest bar in the Gaslamp, operating since 1881 (Wyatt Earp was a regular here), we are still a locally-owned & operated bar/kitchen providing a friendly atmosphere while serving a wide variety of drink selections as well as handcrafted food for your pleasure. A great place to hang out with friends/family, meet new friends or just relax with some great food & drinks. Our philosophy has always been ILOVIT (TIVOLI spelled backwards)
Long-standing haunt serving basic beers & bar bites in welcoming, unpretentious digs.

Tivoli Bar and Grill: Experience San Diegos Historic Dive Bar Charm
Reviews
We also loved meeting Darlene and Sam, who made these Mississippi folks seriously consider moving to San Diego just to be their friends.
This historic bar absolutely deserves a stop on your trip to San Diego. We can’t recommend it highly enough.
Thank you all for such a wonderful, memorable time!
Easy to order beers. Outside was chill
Servers were quick to greet, serve and even mingle when time allowed. You know it’s a great place when staff prefers to relax on site during their breaks with patrons that have become friends.
The prices are very affordable, as is the food!
I highly recommend stopping by!
Oh and the sports presence is large and the venue is conveniently located only a few blocks from the Padre stadium.
It got worse. When we were leaving, my friend realized she had forgotten her phone inside. She asked politely if she could run back in to grab it, and he refused. Not just a firm “no,” but aggressively rude about it, as if we were bothering him by even asking. When she tried to explain, he actually PUSHED her. Yes—physically shoved her. I have a video of this happening, and it’s disgusting that a bar would ever employ someone who thinks this behavior is okay.
This was not just unfriendly or strict—this man went out of his way to be as mean, condescending, and unpleasant as possible. It ruined the night, and frankly, I don’t know how this place hasn’t fired him yet.
Tivoli Tavern should be ashamed of themselves for letting someone like this represent their business. If you value basic human decency and safety, do NOT go here.
Misty as a bartender is in a class all of her own
Would recommend and leave 6 starts if I could!
