Reviews
From the moment you walk through the doors of Tipsy Mermaid, you’re transported to a vibrant slice of the Florida Keys—and that’s no exaggeration. The atmosphere is beachy-chic and effortlessly fun, with warm, welcoming staff who set the tone for a relaxed yet refined dining experience. I genuinely left feeling like I’d stepped into a vacation-moment, right here in Zionsville.
What stands out
Signature cuisine & flavors: The menu embraces the sunny, flavorful spirit of Key West, with creative takes on seafood, island-style preparations and a thoughtful infusion of culture. It’s clear the kitchen is passionate about delivering dishes with genuine character and freshness.
Cocktails & happy hour wow-factor: The bar program deserves a special shout-out. From half-price signature cocktails to $2 oysters on the half shell during happy hour, they’ve nailed the “treat yourself” vibe without feeling gimmicky.
Ambience that hits the mark: Whether you’re settling into the lounge area or dining more formally, the décor, lighting and music all harmonize to create a cheerful, breezy environment. It’s a place where casual meets sophisticated in the best way.
Service that shines: The staff are friendly, attentive and clearly proud of what they do. They strike the perfect balance of being helpful without hovering, making you feel like a welcomed guest rather than just another table.
Local gem with vacation energy: It’s rare to find a restaurant that brings this kind of destination-feel to a town like Zionsville. Tipsy Mermaid manages that beautifully—while still feeling perfectly grounded in the community.
In summary
If you’re looking for an experience more than just a meal, Tipsy Mermaid delivers. It’s ideal for a brunch outing with friends, a lively happy hour, or a dinner date that deserves a bit of flair. I wholeheartedly recommend it—whether you’re aiming to escape the everyday or simply want a thoughtfully delicious night out.
I’ll definitely be back—next time I’ll arrive a little early to enjoy that 4-5pm happy hour!
Our friends had their baby with them and the staff was really nice about getting a highchair for him and bringing his scrambled eggs first.
It was the first nice day in a while, and it honestly felt like being on vacation. My husband and I will definitely be back!
I got the ceviche, this divine egg noodles/mushroom/creamy dish I can’t remember the name of, and some of the best rum and spices plantains I’ve ever had. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and went above and beyond keeping my friend safe around her severe food allergy. He even gave her the best desert on the menu because the devour Indy options didn’t work. The drinks look amazing and I definitely want to try them a day I didn’t work the 5:30 shift.
The portions are substantial and filled me up, and I am a hearty eater.
It was just such a happy, comfortable environment and didn’t push any of my sensory sensitive buttons.
Definitely coming back here at some point as a special treat.
We started with the Bikini Lettuce Wraps, which you can order either constructed or deconstructed. We went with constructed, and they came out looking picture-perfect. Even better, they tasted amazing—fresh, crisp, and full of flavor.
For our main dish, we shared the Bahama Mama Chicken, and it was the perfect plate for two. The combination of chicken kabobs, plantains, rice & beans, guacamole, and pickled red onions exploded with flavor in every bite. It felt like a complete island-inspired experience on one plate.
Our server, Joe W, was excellent—attentive, friendly, and made sure everything met our expectations.
Overall, Tipsy Mermaid is a great spot in Zionsville for unique flavors, beautiful presentation, and welcoming service. We’ll definitely be back!
The place was bright and clean and very nicely decorated. Staff were friendly and helpful, proactively fetching a high chair and getting us settled with drinks.
We both took the opportunity to order off the Devour menu. The food was generously portioned and delicious.
Overall this was a wonderful experience and we would love to go back to try other menu items.
