This is a Mexican restaurant located in Hawaii Kai. It’s in the space that used to be Liko’s. I’d been curious about it for a while, so I decided to try it. You place your order yourself using a large electronic panel and wait for your number to be called. The inside is shared with the Texas BBQ restaurant next door, but there’s limited seating. The outside seats have a nice view of Koko Head, but the tables are tilted, making them a bit awkward to sit at. The tacos themselves are very delicious, so I recommend this place when you want to eat casual Mexican food! I’ll definitely be back

This was by far the worst mexican food I’ve had in my life. For the first time, I actually threw away my whole meal. We ordered 2 burritos that took 30 minutes to come out. The meat was drier than sand, and the “spanish rice” was just foul. After two bites I threw it away and lost my appetite. On top of it they don’t have any drinks or soda in stock. If Tio’s burritos was the only place open on island, I’d go hungry. Save your money.

Wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. It’s an extension of another restaurant that has seating and a bar, all normal. That side seemed pretty cool, it was right on the water too but we had our dog so we got teller takeout side. From the reviews I knew it would be a hit or miss so I figured I’d try it for myself. You order off a kiosk and then they text you when it’s ready, it wasn’t horrible food by any means but it wasn’t anything I’ll be craving to get again.

If you are in Hawaii Kai and craving some Tex-Mex this is your place.
First, it’s a cashless order from a touch screen place. Don’t bring in your hard earned cash, they won’t accept it. Do bring your credit card. The thing I don’t like is that you have to put in your phone number to order, I hate this. My number is none of their business when I just want to purchase lunch. Usually when I see a place like this I just skip it. Because of this reason I will probably never go back. I understand the business perspective, it saves them money. But the cost is passed on to the customer in the form of wasted time.

I’ve been to Texas and lived there for a little bit. Tio’s Burritos IS authentic Tex-Mex just like you’d get in El Paso. The food looks and tastes like home made. From the chip & salsa to the beans and rice. It was a pleasant surprise that took me back to my days on the Rio Grande.
There’s a patio out back on the Kuapa pond with views of Kohelepele. Looking at it, Just knowing the railway trail is there makes my legs hurt.
The cafe is attached to a bar so drinks are available if you are so inclined. It was noon thirty on a Wednesday and there were 3 people in the place. It still took 20 minutes to get food. That’s not a complaint or a compliment on the freshness. I got mine to go, so the food pictured is what you would get for take out.

The wait was 45 minutes. Was charged $4 for a mexican coke and given $3 regular coke with no refund of the difference. The food was NOT good. And there is nobody to talk to about any issue. Queso was inedible and hard to look at. To top it off, we had a cockroach scurry across our table before we left.

Not “authentic” Mexican/Tex Mex, but the food is very good … ordered takeout and the birria chimichanga was still crisp in the container after the hubs brought it home. Meat was well marinated, and the birria sauce was wasn’t super oily like others I’ve had on island. Part of the restaurant group that includes Tex 808 and Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, so you know you’re getting quality ingredients and a reliably good dish every time.

Come hungry!!! Best burritos we have ever had! My husband and I split the Birria burrito and California burrito. It was so delicious. Also, $16 for a burrito that weighs the same as a 9lb baby is a heck of a deal. They have great covered outdoor seating along the bay. If you’re not into texmex, there’s a bar and bbq place attached which is probably equally as good.

I had a carne asada burrito. Their Spanish rice was good. Beans were okay. The carne asada was horrific. Grizzle, grizzle, grizzle. Plus, it was tasteless. They need to reconsider their vendor who provides them beef. And then they need to pull out a receipe book and learn how to cook carne asada. The seasoning they put on their chips was not to my liking (I prefer just plain great tortilla chips) but that is a personal preference so won’t knock them for that. Even though I live within walking distance or could take my boat over there, I just can’t see going back unless I hear they have improved their food quality.

Best burritos on the island. I am so excited this place has opened, colocated with Tex 808. They definitely do meats right in quantity and quality and taste, perhaps as a result of the collaboration with the BBQ joint. The tinga chicken and birria are so tasty. They just opened so I hope they keep the quality at this level. If they do, it will be a great spot for many years. I do hope they take actual photos of the food for their menu, as the placeholder images do not do the food justice.

Terrible service. Online it says open until 830. I drive there at 730. Nobody at Tio’s. Waitress for the BBQ place says kitchen is closed. I suggest to her that they correct the hours Online. She says kitchen is separate from the restaurant. What does that mean? I wasted my time driving there. How difficult is it to keep hours current online?
There’s a sign says “Do not eat Tios food at the BBQ place” The only place Tios customers are allowed to eat is a very small area inside if that area is open (its closed before the kitchen is closed) or outside with no covering.
It feels like they don’t really care about the Tios place; not keeping information current, keeping Tio customers separate. The food is ok but I won’t be going here again because of their attitude towards the Tios customers…almost feels like discrimination. Unfriendly
