We came back with a group on Saturday who had reservations. We were sat promptly at 7pm. Received drinks about 45 min later. Food arrived about 8:45pm. About 30 min after we ordered the server informed us that our 2 prime ribs were overcooked and that we needed to choose something else.
The place is large, echoey, and awkwardly quiet. No background music or anything. Just a weird vibe. Very disappointing dining experience. One would think they’d be firing on all cylinders the first weekend in October.

Hate to see low reviews, and it’s a shame. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here in a Saturday during Oktoberfest. Food was really good (the maple curry wings as a starter were awesome!), and our waitress (“Grandma”) was great. Loved the venue itself – we’re history buffs and appreciate the old structure.

This restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere. After a full day of tasting wine, we were already a bit full, but this food was good. For dinner, we tried a flight of beers. The house salad was full of Brussels sprouts but had good flavor. The Rouladen was very good with the red cabbage and potatoes. I could have used a little more beef gravy, as the veal was a little dry, but still tender.

Our visit started off a little rough. I am a pre planner so I already knew what I wanted before we even walked through the door, but was told quickly they were out 🙁 we ordered spinach artichoke dip which comes with toasted garlic bread and was delicious but that’s where the good food stopped 🙁 My husband got the prime rib which comes with Au Jus. The Au Jus had a weird taste to it and the prime rib was over cooked. I ended up ordered Spatzel which had lobster pieces in it and made with a bechamel. It was not good at all. We went in on a Friday, made a reservation and was promptly seated after checking in. Alec was our server and he did a wonderful job of taking care of our group. I loved the atmosphere and how they turned it into a restaurant. Very neat to see the structure of it. It was a little drafty where we were seated but it’s also an old building and middle of November. I wish there would have been some light music but our drinks were very yummy! I got the tin mule and loved it. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious! As well as the crab cakes for appetizers. I did the steak frites and wasn’t a fan of the sauce on them but the steak was so tender. This was our first stop of many in Herman and we had such a great time visiting the town.

Had a wonderful dinner in a cozy atmosphere. Had the salmon on butternut squash puree and I had to stop myself from licking the plate. My husband had the chicken pot pie. He loved the flaky crust. He had a good dark beer and I had a glass of the White lady. The server was very sweet and attentive. We will be back next time we are in town.

We visited you twice during a stay in Hermann. The first time was fine, but the second time was terrible. The bartender was our server. Two of us ordered lemon drop martinis. I was surprised to see my friend’s martini was only about 3/4 full. I was even more surprised to see my martini barely half full. Not a good deal at $13 each.
The bartender forgot to bring an appetizer until reminded. She also forgot my wine with dinner until reminded as well. When bringing the wine she accidentally bumped the wine glass against my water glass. A significant amount spilled in front of my friend. She did not apologize or clean up the mess. Nor did she offer to fill up the wine glass.
Two of us had chicken pot pie. They were not hot. The pot pie was basically a pastry in gravy with no chicken to be found. It was not my first choice of entree. The restaurant was out of Osso Bucca and Steak Frites, my first two choices.
We had separate checks but that got screwed up too. Not a great experience.
Won’t be back.

Great lunch experience. Just arrived in Hermann and came here. Great atmosphere and fantastic service. Enjoyed the taste but felt the meal was a bit expensive for what we got. That being said, the blackberry whisky cocktail was worth the added expense, and the food was well cooked and beautifully presented. It’s definitely worth a visit, but probably not a second visit.

Almost didn’t come after being scared off by reviews! Came in after talking with locals and hearing otherwise. Our food was awesome. I got the smoked brat and my boyfriend got the brisket grilled cheese. It’s a bit pricier than other places in town, but it is really yummy!

Our first time eating at the tin mill. It was a wonderful experience. We were served by Grandma and her personality was delightful. She was very attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. We wanted a quick bite and ordered a smash burger. It was probably one of the best smash burgers as it was cooked to perfection and I even told our waitress please tell chef that this is so good. Everyone around us was ordering the same thing. so it must be a popular choice. The burger had the perfect charbroiled taste, well seasoned, the bun was perfect and not so big where I could enjoy the taste of the burger. The toppings were so good ! A+ and now I will have to come back to eat this again. I will say the fries were perfect too. They had the perfect crisp, and was so enjoyable eating them next to my burger. We will be back!
