I’ve been craving a chicken pot pie lately but unfortunately, most chicken pot pies include the one food ingredient I hate more than anything else in the world… peas.

So I found a restaurant whose description included all the vegetables in their pot pie, which did not include peas (exhibit A). Tim’s Kitchen. When I ordered it, I made sure to include “PLEASE NO PEAS!” in the notes just in case (exhibit B ). I even included a smiley face because it’s the day after Christmas and I’m not a total monster. When I pick up the food and take it back to work, I find AN OVERABUNDANCE OF PEAS (exhibit C). So I drive back to the restaurant because they don’t have a phone number listed on Google Maps, and the phone number on their website goes to voicemail.

I get there to be told that they can’t make it without peas, and that they would’ve contacted me but couldn’t find any way to reach me. To which I had to refer them back to Exhibit B, the receipt, with my name, phone number and email listed on it. Then the hostess, Mandi, who is an absolute sweetheart, confesses she’s just the only one working the front of house (during a busy Day After Christmas/Friday lunch rush) and doesn’t know how to give me a refund and had to give me her personal cellphone number for me to call back later.

Unfortunately I was on a 30 min lunch break so I didn’t have time to wait for a new dish or anything. Thank god I ordered an appetizer (fried green tomatoes, which is the only reason they got two stars from me).

To Alex, the owner: do better, for your customers and especially for your employees.

Real home style breakfast. Generous portions and reasonable price. Better than any other place in Tacoma. Coffee is always hot and the service is friendly.

Easily one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. I got the chicken fried chicken, more food than any one person should eat. The quality of the cook and the flavor of the food was off the charts. Service was great! When I’m in Tacoma again I will definitely be stopping by but next time it’ll be for dinner.

Be aware that on weekends wait times can be very long. I think we sat at our table for around 45 minutes while the server was handling many tables. She was great. They were just suffering from staffing issues it seemed. The tables weren’t all full. This is different from my experience at Tim’s in Puyallup, being not as good. Still very tasty and the fried chicken was great. The country Benedict was the best item. Followed by the chicken and waffles. The waffle was really soft on the inside and the brown sugar butter was better than the chicken. I wouldn’t say it’s better than Alfred’s down the street, but it’s pretty close in its own way. The chicken wasn’t very crispy, verging on the soggy side on a piece or two. The breakfast pizza was something I wouldn’t order again. It has lots of meat and toppings, but the sauce/gravy was lost in it without much seasoning on it. I do recommend sticking to what works with these folks, chicken and breakfast items. I do love that they have a nice salad bar. I’ll come back again even with a long wait. The old Harmon building has its charm and the bloody Mary’s here were really well made without being too acidic. They weren’t a stiff pour of that’s what you’re looking for.

First time here. Food and services was amazing
No one was here. Every time we came here before, it was packed. Biscuits and gravy is a must. Loved it . Best ever.

That’s Tacoma
Stopped in to Tim’s Kitchen this afternoon for a beer and bite, mainly to see what they’re bringing to the neighborhood. I read they have other locations and the reviews were pretty good, so we opted to put them under the spotlight for review.
As soon as I entered the establishment, I was immediately welcomed by Cristy.
Prompt service and warm vibes accompanied by some of the best chicken I’ve had in a long minute, made this new spot likely to become a common after work checkpoint.
Oh, and they have 2 pool tables.

Thanks again!

Update:
Max, the new bartender is a scholar and a gentleman. Was a pleasure meeting you sir. We’ll be chatting again soon.

Update: Willy is the man behind the counter and Johnny on the spot. A scholar and a gentleman.

I’ve order a steak twice from here , med well , they just aren’t good at cooking steaks and I only ordered again to see if it was just a bad night for the cooks. Don’t waste your money, all other food is alright.

I ordered the chicken fried chicken breakfast. I can’t speak for the restaurant ambiance because I got delivery. I’m compelled to post a review because, as a breakfast fan, this was the best I’ve had in a long time. The hand breaded chicken breast was perfect, juicy, tender, light breading and not greasy – just delicious. The biscuit was fluffy, as were the scrambled eggs. Exactly what I wanted. I’ll have to show up in person some time.

So Everytime my daughter and I visit Tim’s restaurant I always have to get the beef liver with mashed potatoes. My daughter enjoys the chicken and waffles..The first time she got the chicken with the bone and said it was well seasoned and juicy. She also stated that her chicken strips last night were very tasty.

We ordered through a delivery service.
Nearly everything was “dry “
Corned beef hash tastes like it is out of a can. Even with the egg on it, it was dry and I ended up not eating it. There wasn’t even any butter on the sourdough bread.
The biscuits and gravy were nice and peppery.
Very little hash browns with the eggs Bennie.
The cinnamon roll was dry too.
The chicken and waffles: chicken was juicy but lacked flavor.
There are many other options for fabulous breakfasts in Tacoma. This is not making our list.
