Great place to stop on the way home from the packer game. Celebrating my hubbys double nickel bday. Wrapping up with ribs, corn bread and beer.

Had a great time here and Ashlee was our server. She was super quick, really friendly, and paid attention to everything. We tried the brisket chili and the stuffed mac and cheese and both were really good. We never had to wait long for anything and she kept checking in to make sure we were good. I would highly recommend her as your server.

Cool stop. The kids had malts and the adults had a beer. Bartender had a great sense of humor. Muscle Car museum (did not go to), antique store and Doc’s Harley Davidson dealer also attached. Behind the restaurant is a kids play area and an assortment of animals. The indoor bird and reptile house was hit with the kiddos. A very cool stop on HWY 29!!

The food here was just okay. I had a brisket burger with fries, and honestly, the fries seemed like they’d been sitting in a basket by the fryer long before I placed my order—definitely not fresh. The burger itself was average, and I was disappointed that about half of the brisket was just fat, which left a lot to be desired.

My girlfriend had the pulled pork mac & cheese and really enjoyed it, so it wasn’t all bad.

The overall vibe of the restaurant felt a bit dated, but it had a quirky charm to it. The animals out back were a fun surprise—you don’t see a Highland coo every day. All in all, it was an interesting stop, but for the price, I expected a better dining experience.

Amazing place to have lunch and look around for hours! Great BBQ food, zoo, pirate ship, motorcycles, alligators, and more. What else could you need to have a great time.

Very good variety of menu items (my husband doesn’t eat meat and he had a couple of options). Server was very friendly. The pork mac was awesome and the veggie sandwich was very good.

If you want the best baby back ribs around, take a little jaunt up Hwy. 29 outside of Shawano to Timeline. The BBQ and the sauces are a match made in hog heaven. The staff is friendly, and the place is an attraction beyond a mere dining space. There is motorcycle history, petroliana, and all around Americana throughout the many buildings and grounds. Of course, there’s an adjacent Harley dealership as well. Indeed, they have both kinds of hogs.

Had a great breakfast, I’d like to try the dinner specials some time. We stopped before heading out to Tomahawk for the fall ride. Definitely added to our experience. Service was great. Only con, poor wifi where we were sitting.

People who know me, know I am kinda a barbecue “aficionado.” I’ve eaten at over 100 bbq joints in 27 states, 3 countries, and 2 cruise lines. Timeline Saloon & BBQ is right in my backyard, and the only thing that has disappointed me is that it took me so long to get here!

I settled on the two meet combo (ribs and sliced brisket), a side of beans, and the Texas Toast. Although I found the beans very average… Similar to Vande camps, pork and beans in consistency and flavor… the meats, however, were extraordinary!!!

Although they do not sell their ribs as “fall off the bone,” mine certainly did. They were juicy with a nice, firm bark. More than I would’ve expected on four small ribs. The brisket was unbelievable! Firm yet fatty with a deep, smoky and salty flavor. It can definitely stand on its own without any sauce… which is a true testament to a good meat! At times, maybe a little “too” salty, but that’s definitely what I like!

Although everything was so good that I didn’t want to add sauce, I felt obligated to try the flight of sauces. “Doc’s Original” did not disappoint. it was a perfect blend of mild and flavorful. The true star of the show though, is the “Captain Morgan” sauce. It as a dark hickory flavor with hints of jalapeño… a slightly sweet base the leaves an ever-so-soft “burn” on the pallet and tongue. I would not hesitate to use it again.

The restaurant is part of the Doc’s Harley Davidson complex. There is so much to do here that, as a destination, it’s hard to separate the restaurant from the total experience. Overall, I would rate the empire experience as a 10… But if I have to separate out just the restaurant and its food, I would give it a 9.5. Incredibly respectable the barbecue restaurant scale! The only reason I’m deducting a half-point is because the server didn’t ask to refill my drink, though she was incredibly attentive, helpful, and joyous otherwise.

If you don’t have this on your radar, you definitely should. It’s not very far from Green Bay or the Fox Cities and is definitely worth a quiet afternoon drive to get here.
