The lady who took the order at the drive thru sounded annoyed and not friendly. The older lady at the window was nicer. Do better Tim’s!
On 17 October, around lunchtime, I walked into the Tim Hortons in Upper Arlington. I told the two people working the shift that I’d be ordering a dozen doughnuts later but wanted to have my lunch first. They couldn’t have been more welcoming — “Take your time,” they said, “no problem at all.” When I asked for a bottle of water, they handed me one free of charge. It might seem small, but it felt incredibly kind and human.
After my meal, I ordered a dozen doughnuts for a local healthcare facility I was visiting. I asked them to choose the selection themselves, paid without issue, and we had a friendly chat about where I was from and what brought me there. As I was leaving, I realised I needed another dozen, so I went back to order one more box.
That’s when they told me, with genuine enthusiasm, “This one’s on us — it’s for our healthcare workers.” I tried to insist on paying, but they absolutely wouldn’t take it. “No, this is our gift,” they said. I was honestly speechless.
Out of my entire week in the U.S., this simple act of kindness stood out more than anything else. For two people working in a chain café to show that kind of compassion and generosity — it completely reshaped my view of hospitality here. I might have forgotten their names, but I’ll never forget their warmth and the brand image of a Tim Hortons.
They turned an ordinary coffee stop into one of the most memorable moments of my trip.
The Strawberry Kiwi Watermelon With Coconut Milk Refresher. They asked if I wanted it with Lemonade, I said sure go ahead, but, I wasn’t able to taste the Watermelon and Cocunut Milk
To the manager or franchise owner of this location- do better. Treat your employees right and worry more about customer service rather than how many customers you can get through the line in a minute. Starbucks and Dunkin’ would never treat a customer the way you treat years based on the reviews I’ve seen.
This trip I DID NOT receive my donut.
I may start going to STARBUCKS if you continue down this poor path of insufficient customer service.
