The restaurant is located next door to The Marriott Hotel. For a Tuesday evening, it was quite busy.
We hadn’t booked, and were shown to a table in the middle of the large dining area.
As we had not been here before,we decided to play it safe with dishes we would normally order and know.
To compare it to other Thai restaurants we have dined at previously.
Mixed Starter (for two people) £20.00
A selection of spring rolls, chicken satay, prawn toasts and Thai fish cakes.Served with peanut sauce, sweet chilli sauce and cucumber salsa.
We thought this was a very poor selection.
The sticks holding the chicken satay were freezing cold. This would suggest they had just come out of the fridge and warmed up.
The fish cakes were like rubber.
If we had dropped one on the floor they would have probably bounced back to the kitchen.
For mains we ordered,
Chicken Red Curry £16.00.
With bamboo shoots, aubergines and green beans favoured with chillis, sweet basil and coconut milk.
Fish Choo Chee £25.00
Two fillets of sea bass, deep fried with spicy coconut milk, kaffir lime leaves, tamarind juice and chillies.
Plus a steamed rice £4.50 & Coconut rice £6.00.
To sum up.
The food doesn’t match the pricing structure.
Service was pleasant, but we didn’t expect, what looked like the pot washer to serve the food to the table.
The food was excellent, just as good as we remembered years ago. Thai food is one of our favourite foods, its our go to restaurant out and we cook it at home. We had mixed starter which was really good, everything was cooked well and full of flavour.
We then had duck in tamarind and beef penang curry both were delicious and some of the best cooked protein we have had in a thai restaurant. Both full of authentic Thai flavours and a plentiful portion. We are not local unfortunately but will definitely be back next time we are in Bournemouth.
100% reccomend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed!
One down size was that we came for lunch and the restaurant was super quite and didn’t have such vibe of a restaurant. We sit in and they turn on the music. Otherwise everything was off. I understand the situation but still expect a vibe when I first stepped in.
Was a good lunch, thanks so much! I will come back, probably dinner time.
The food was excellent. I had the duck breast with tamarind sauce and it was beautifully cooked — tender, rich, and perfectly balanced with that sweet-sour depth. The starters were equally impressive, full of flavour and clearly prepared with care.
Great value for money, a lovely white wine selection, and service that felt attentive without ever being intrusive.
We had a really lovely evening and will definitely be back. Highly recommended
The food is very tasty and there is a good selection of dishes. Pricing is what I would expect it to be.
Service was friendly and quick and everyone enjoyed there dishes.
Overall, a really nice meal in a nice restaurant with lovely staff. We will be back.
I had the best Pad Thai noodles I have ever had.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. It is always crowded but has a great seating space and very close to the beach. Love the location and the quality and quantity of food it served. A must go if u are visiting Bournemouth.
I love Thai food and was excited to try this place which apparently won awards.
We had massaman curry (amazing 10/10) and Thai basil chilli chicken (average).
Low rating because £15 is overpriced for curries in my opinion especially given the small portions. You have to buy sides separately and it’s almost £6 for the TINIEST bit of rice is diabolical. Literally 2-3 tablespoons. Seriously a pack of rice is £1 and you can get several portions so that’s so overpriced.
The chicken was not well cooked and was pink. Sent it back and they made a fresh one. Thing is we’d already put the already half the already tiny portion of rice on the plate so that was gone and not replaced.
I would have expected like maybe a little discount or extra dish or something.
Finally £74 for two people in Bournemouth without even having desert or alcohol is a lot.
