Disclaimer: This review is only on the food taste and service as I did not pay for this meal.

Came here for an early dinner for 8 people. The hostess greeted us warmly. Our server was really nice and introduced their specials. Had a drink that I forgot the name, but it was basically passion fruit margarita with jalapeño bitters. It was great with a kick and tajin on the glass rim for more spiciness. Should have gotten more of that drink, but decided to go with red wine to pair with dinner.

The shrimp cocktail was fine with big pieces. The shishito peppers were good – I had like 8-9 pieces and only one piece was really spicy. Also had brussels sprouts, but I did not take a photo and it was average. My main dish was cioppino. The presentation was not great as the bread covered all the seafood. The taste was good as I finished the whole dish.

For dessert, I chose the butter cake as it included a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The presentation and the taste were good. There was nothing bad at this place, but nothing really stood out either. With so many great restaurants in Danville, they may need to do more to get customers back. I would rate the food at 4 stars, but their service at 5 stars. Although I did not pay, I did see the prices. At those prices, I expected the food to taste better.

Our 3rd time at Tides in about a year was a quiet Sunday evening. I just love the decor in this restaurant. The deep green velvet upholstered banquettes, the high ceilings and the use of plants create a warm yet sophisticated atmosphere. As usual, we had very good service, and our meals were excellent. As an Andrea Aker, I appreciate that they had several nonalcoholic cocktails to choose from. I decided to try one called “the love of L“, a lavender flavored lemonade with lychee syrup. It was delicious. A little too sweet for my taste, like most mocktails. Still, it was beautifully presented and tasty. My husband got an elaborate old-fashioned — presented with sparks and smoke. He loved it! We tried the new Teriyaki steak skewers as an appetizer. I really like this! I almost never order beef, but this preparation appealed to me. There was a lovely little salad with a sesame based dressing that accompanied them. Both of us got fish entrées. I had the seabass and he had the blackened halibut. We both liked his better. It came with a mango salsa and a scrumptious passionfruit beurre blanc. We couldn’t resist ordering dessert. Carrot cake is one of my husband’s favorites especially one like this – prepared without raisins. It was delicious. I got the flourless chocolate torte. That was also a winner. It has a texture like ganache or fudge icing. It came with a raspberry coulis and some whipped cream. Usually Tides is busier, but this was the first Sunday night of the back to school week so the whole town was pretty quiet. And with only a few other tables, the noise level was nice in the restaurant and we could easily hear each other talk. I’m pretty sure even when the restaurant is more full that it’s still one of the quieter restaurants.

Food was pretty average. For the prices I had higher expectations. One person in our group had a salad for $12 or $14 and it was pretty standard. Fish and chips had too much batter. That person ended up pulling the batter off to get to the fish. The short rib was small, but very moist and flavorful. But, the mashed potatoes were bland. Overall the best case, it was average.

The wait staff was very attentive and nice. But the girl who brought the food kept dropping things off at the wrong tables.

Outside was pleasant. Inside was a bit noisy. They have umbrellas for shade and heat lamps for cold.

Overall opinion is I wouldn’t pay these prices to come here again.

A little pricey but dishes we ordered were delicious! We ordered Brussels sprouts, Calamari & fresh Oysters. Repeated the Brussels sprouts as we absolutely loved the flavor profile! Washed it all down with some cocktails, martinis and wine. For main course we ordered Halibut, the Chilean Seabass (fishes were a tad bit under seasoned but melt in mouth nevertheless!), shrimp linguini and the Scallop rissotto! To wash it down, a warm decadent chocolate lava cake (we dove into it before clicking a pic.. haha!)!
The ambience was lively, the room was buzzing. Our server was very friendly! Overall service was good, orders were taken quickly, dishes came out quicker!

Tides was a great choice for our anniversary. They made it special with a dessert plate. We were well attended to and everyone was friendly. The restaurant is beautiful and the bathrooms were very clean and tidy. My honey had the short ribs and I had the gnocchi… it was a bit greasy but thats the nature of the dish. We would return for another nice dinner maybe on a week night this time. We came in on a Sat when we celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary

A must try! The scallop risotto is absolutely amazing! The salmon was delicious. Drinks are special. The punch bowl is the way to go. Soooooo good! Our waitress, Kayla, was attentive and knowledgeable. She made excellent suggestions. She made our experience that much better. The manager, Melissa, took the time to come chat with us and make sure all was well. The pastry chef knows what she’s doing. Best carrot cake I’ve ever had. Super friendly staff, great ambiance. We might be back every weekend.

Amazing experience, a wonderful restaurant with great cocktails and top-notch seafood. I had the whole sea bass, it was so full of flavor and perfect textures. We also had the risotto, Brussels, octopus, asparagus, and a lava cake for desert. We tried several cocktails, each a unique experience. Great staff, knowledgeable and patient.

Went here for a team dinner. Everything about this place for the most part was great except for their wine list. Their wine list had a subpar selection. Everything else; food was great, great service and the ambiance was great. Will definitely be back and bring future teams
