We had breakfast here a few days ago. Rather than dull food on the resort we sought a local spot. We were quoted half an Hour wait and that was super accurate. The service was friendly, the food delicious, and the ambiance was great for our group of 8 (4 adults 4 kids).

Amber was our server and took great care of us. We got the chicken tenders, cinnamon whip waffle, kids pancake breakfast, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon whip French toast, fried green tomatoes, and 2 x kids French toast.

We will absolutely be back for home cooked food, and friendly service!

We were staying at the Massanutten Resort, just a quick 7-minute drive away, and the concierge staff there recommended Thunderbird Café and wow what a great suggestion! There was a bit of a wait, but it was absolutely worth it. The food was fresh, the atmosphere was cozy, and the service was fantastic. We loved it so much that we actually went back the next morning! We ate there for breakfast both times.

If you go, definitely ask for Kevin! He’s the best! Friendly, attentive, and made our experience even better. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Massanutten area.

This is our favorite restaurant by far!!! We have come here over the years and it’s only gotten better. I honestly don’t think you could go wrong choosing anything. This visit to massanutten we are hooked on the Reuben breakfast. We had it three times in one week. We also liked the Andre the Great, the Fried chicken, and the waffles and French toast…..see everything is good. And Cheyenne is the absolute best!!! She makes a Red Velvet Espresso Martini that is by far the best drink I’ve ever had. I said to my spouse this morning that I think I’d drive the 6 ½ hours from SC just to eat here. It is amazing every single time!!!

The atmosphere is classic diner, smells of fresh roasting coffee, and amazing food. They have a great drink, food and special menu. The mimosa selections are impressive and the lavender ginger was great. We got the jimmy burrito and the Andre the giant. The burrito was large and perfect, waffles nice and crisp, bacon nice and crispy, eggs were great. Naomi our server was real helpful and very pleasant.

We were looking for a place that served great breakfast at a reasonable price. We checked out the reviews and came across this place. It’s a small restaurant not many tables so we had a 10 minute wait time. Once seated we waited another 10 minutes to place our order. The food came pretty quickly. I ordered a steak omelette. I was a little disappointed. There wasn’t much steak in there but tons of green peppers and onions in it. It came with cubed potatoes which were good and toast. One of my friends order steak and eggs. She was a little disappointed too because the breading fell off when she was cutting it. She said it was tender though. My other friend ordered dutch apple waffle, she said it was good. I don’t think I would go back. The total price plus tip and tax for breakfast for 3 people was $86. Way too much for just ok food.

The food here was absolutely amazing, and the service matched it perfectly! I ordered the Jimmy Burrito along with the Blueberry Cream Cheese French Toast—both were out of this world. My wife and seasoned potatoes with bacon, and a chocolate chip pancake, and everything was phenomenal.

Every dish was packed with flavor and lived up to its restaurant’s award-winning reputation. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by—you won’t be disappointed!

Amazing food!

We ordered:-

1) Rachel’s Favorite
2) Rueben Sandwich
3) Ranchero bowl
4) Butter beer

And mannn everything was just so delicious.
We sat outside so the ambiance was also very scenic. Service was good. Did have to wait for like 45 minutes but it was totally worth it!

Overall – 4/5

Will definitely go again if in the area

This place is a breakfast oasis. The food was phenomenal. You could tell so much of it was made from scratch and a lot of time and prep was put into it. Buttermilk pancakes with sausage gravy was a nice change from the more sweet side and it wasn’t so dense, almost like a crepe. Highly recommend this place.

Wow! I see why this diner was #2 on the top roadside diners of 2025. Food was incredible and the waitstaff for on top of everything. Best breakfast I had the whole week I was in Virginia!

This place is very popular. And I’m sure there are people who genuinely enjoy it. However, I feel it is also popular by necessity and convenience. There are not many other places close by, & it is at the foot of the Massanutten Ski Resort.
We went early on a Sunday morning and were told 20 – 30 minutes wait. Granted we had 6 people so we needed one of the booths, but it took 50 minutes before we were seated. The wait area is only big enough for about 15 people, & then you are constantly shuffling around for people entering and leaving or going to the restroom. Most people waiting went to their cars because it was very cold outside and in, with the opening of doors.
The service was reasonable, but they were too busy for good service. Food was prepared very quickly. Everyone said they enjoyed the food, but I wasn’t as impressed. The vegetarian burger bun was fried in butter & the tomatoes were not fresh. I also feel it was pricey everything considered.
This is just my opinion of my experience, hopefully you will have a better time.
