I felt like Prime Rib tonight and the Courtyard was packed. Called Thunder Bay River Restaurant and he said Prime Rib was on special tonight! What Luck!
How wrong I was!
Pulling in and being the only car in the parking lot on a busy Saturday night is surely a warning sign that I did not heed. Walking in and finding not another customer in the restaurant should have been a another warning sign!
Probably the worst prime rib I have ever had! Service was assuredly quick with all the microwave ovens beeping coming from the kitchen. Mashed potatoes were old and tasted a bit off. I heard the cook tell the waitress that he gave me Turkey gravy instead of beef and scooped out most of the Turkey gravy and substituted the beef gravy mostly. Only about half of the cut of prime rib should have been edible if it were cooked properly the rest was grizzle and inedible matter.
Gave it another shot, still BAD!

Ordered the seafood platter for a massive meal at a great price. Server was kind and very helpful in answering questions. Food came out quickly and was still warm when served. Give it a visit!

The food was amazing, with huge portions that I couldn’t finish.
The restaurant has recently changed to a Polish food restaurant, and it was a delicious change.
I got the pastrami tots, which was an enormous bowl of tater tots, beer cheese, spicy ranch which did not disappoint, cheddar, pastrami and bacon. It was fantastic.
Morgan, our server, was very polite, pleasant, and informative regarding all of the food options.
I will definitely eat here again!

Went for breakfast and left after waiting over an hour and not getting our food yet. Watched multiple tables of people walk out without waiting for their food. Every kid in the restaurant was being walked around with their parents, including my nephew who is 2. Tired of waiting in their highchairs. Our waitress took our food order and we didn’t see her again at our table. We asked another waitress for a kids menu and crayons, she never brought them. When the table next to us left he came to our table and said, “good luck.” People were standing at the entrance over 15 minutes waiting to be seated or even greeted. Terrible experience. Good food and location but definitely needs better waitresses.

The best thing about our visit was the waiter. He was really friendly and happy to serve as. The food however was terrible. I would have rather went to John boys it was so bad. The steak was a dry 1/4″ think meat disk with no flavor or seasoning to speak of and my gfs coconut shrimp was all burnt on the outside. The dumpling dump tasted like something out of a Gordon’s food can and the brownie in our dessert was AT LEAST a day old. I’ve never had food this bad before. Breakfast was good when I went previously, no complaints. This was a disaster. Will not be returning.

Decided to give them another try. Service was better. But, food wasn’t.
Ordered chicken strips, they looked good but didn’t taste that way. They tasted like fish. Found out they use the same oil as there fish. Cold slaw was warm, like it had been sitting out. After eating here I didn’t feel well. Very pricey!!

This is a very nice restaurant located on the beautiful Thunder Bay only minutes away from the city center. The food was great and reasonably priced. We came in here when they were doing 50% off appetizers, and they were great. The regular prices (about $7-$8) would’ve been a good price judging on how much you got in one order. The main dishes were just a good as the appetizers, and all of the dishes featured locally sourced ingredients. Lastly, the staff here were incredible and provided great food recommendations. Thank you so much, we will be back!
