I had a very strange experience at this location today. I ordered a beverage and asked if honey could be added. The employee informed me that they had honey, but they were not allowed to charge for it because they just had a meeting about honey?? When I asked why, he said they didn’t have a button to charge for honey in the register and therefore could not add it.

Another customer nearby was equally confused, especially since this is a very normal request at most coffee shops. We politely asked if he could check with a manager, but he refused and said they had recently had a meeting where staff were told not to serve honey. The confusing part was that the manager appeared to be nearby, yet the employee seemed very hesitant and almost nervous to ask.

What made this even more puzzling is that I had the exact same beverage with honey at the Norfolk location with no issue at all.

As someone who owns a small business myself, I understand policies and operational procedures, but customer service and reasonable accommodations should still come first…especially for something as simple as adding honey to a drink when it is clearly available.

Overall, the interaction felt uncomfortable and the vibe at this location was a bit off. I hope management can clarify their policies and empower staff to communicate better with customers moving forward. If they didn’t have honey in stock, that would have been a better explanation. We asked for him to up charge the drink (pay extra money to the business) for honey. Confusing but hope they clarify the confusion.

Lovely place. Coffee made my eyes widen because it was pretty tasty- as someone who is used to Starbucks for better or for worse, it blew me out of the water. I think i got a mocha cappuccino (at other cafes i get white chocolate mochas, but I believe they didn’t have it there so they suggested normal mocha iirc). It was more expensive than I’m used to but I kind of didn’t mind that due to how it tasted and how relaxing it was in the building.

Also, the person who took my order was real kind and fun to talk to.

I really enjoyed the coffee here. I went to other local coffee shops around town, but this one was the standout. There was a wonderful barista with so much knowledge and passion about the coffee she was making that I ended up bringing more people. It was voted the best coffee place on our trip. If this shop was located at my city, I’d be a daily customer. Can’t wait to try the beans I also purchased.

Cute spot. The available coffees were limited to one ready and one pour over. Both coffee blends available on offer seemed to be strong flavors. I was hoping to try more of a house medium blend so I could see if we wanted to buy some grounds as well and was disappointed with what was available so I opted for a chai. My husband got a vanilla latte. It tasted horrible. The chai tasted like it was a powder blend. It had a bitter chalky flavor.

The service was slow and not very pleasant especially when I went back to ask for a drink remade because it tasted bad. We try to support local whenever possible but I wouldn’t recommend this cafe.

I was really disappointed with my recent visit. This place has gone significantly downhill since I was here last year. Previously, the biscuit sandwich was excellent—crispy, fresh bacon, a perfectly cooked egg, and a fluffy, flavorful biscuit.

This time, unfortunately, everything felt subpar and not worth the $50 I spent when bringing my family w/ me from out of town. The bacon and egg both tasted like they’d been microwaved and not good quality, and the biscuit was undercooked and had a strange texture. It honestly reminded me of a frozen breakfast sandwich.

I still love the atmosphere and the decor—they’ve created a great space, the coffee was great too—but that only goes so far when the food quality has dropped this much. I would suggest dropping the food from the menu or go back to the original quality I had last year. Not sure if the cook or vendor changed or simply price cuts.

Really wanted to like this as the cashier was super sweet and the place itself was really cute but the lattes were terrible. My friend and I each got two dif lattes that Tasted identical and the taste was just milk. If customers order your larger size add a 2nd shot of espresso or more ice for that matter, not more milk…

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Virginia Beach. This is the best three ships location. It’s quiet and never crowded! The coffee is fantastic!

Me and my fiancé love coffee and cute more local coffee shops and will always bite at the opportunity to visit a coffee shop we haven’t been too and try new places and we get excited at seasonal menus. As a coffee shop if you offer something seasonal and put it on a special cute menu please taste your creation first. We got the banana seasonal latte. And a normal brown sugar latte. Each one costed 7.25, at that price point we assumed it was going to be either your traditional 20 ounce large or at very least a 12 ounce medium. Boy were we mistaken. Both the iced banana latte and the hot brown sugar latte were served in 8 ounce cups. Which was an absolute shock for the price. And the size would have been excusable if the coffee lived up to the hype and was good. But man oh man were we mistaken again. The brown sugar latte was fine, tasted like a latte made with brown sugar. No surprises there. But the problem coms with the bannana latte, the flavor I can only assume was going for a banana bread to really give you those fall baked good tingles. But the flavor instead was that of grocery store sushi. We were shocked and appalled. My fiancé burst out laughing after tasting it because it was so comically bad. We’ve had bad coffee before and I’m sure anyone has, but when it comes to three ships coffee, we would rather drink burnt drip Maxwell house/ foldgers out of a dirty 60 dollar a night motel coffee maker. And would be happier with knowing that we didn’t pay 7.25 a cup plus tip for an undrinkable comically bad cup of coffee. Now for the more nit picky items We took our cup of sushi water to go, there was no benches or seating available for people who do make to go orders leaving you to stand in the lobby awkwardly waiting for the single barista to finish making your not so good coffee, the seating for people who order for there is okay, they have several tables but in very close proximity to eachother making it awkward and you will most definitely bump elbows with people who are just as upset as you are due to spending an arm and a leg on mediocre coffee they could have made better at home, leading to some serious tension. This is the perfect coffee shop to take an ex too if they ask to have a closure conversation. After the coffee and awkward seating arrangement they will be sure to delete your number.

Came to work and wanted to not be at a chain spot. Not disappointed as it was tucked away and had a nice chill vibe. Coffee was decent but wasn’t sure which brew I was getting as they sell coffee for home use. Got biscuits which were made fresh. Bench seating could have used some pillows but overall loved the spot and the staff.

This location of three ships is the best. Truly a great place for exquisite coffees, pastries, and an occasional bite to eat. It is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the trip.
We’ve been on vacation since last week & it’s our 6th time coming here.
The mocha and iced Pungo latte have been our favorites!
