Took the kiddos into the city, and decided to stop for a nice cool treat. Saw the sign for ice cream and headed inside. The space inside is rather small/tight which is common for most establishments in the district. There were several items to consider and a vast menu. The service was rather “meh” and that was the overall experience. The ice cream portions are big, and the prices aren’t cheap. If you’re looking for a sweet treat, please bypass due to the poop service experience. I don’t spend my money where my patronage is not appreciated.

Yuck. Ick. Gross. This was my Mecca of ice cream and hot fudge for over 35 years. I have made pilgrimages to this place ever since moving away from DC in 1994.

Last night was disgusting. The hot fudge no longer tastes or looks like hot fudge. It’s a weird lumpy consistency that looks more like a dog‘s diarrhea. And for some reason it tasted like coffee.
The Oreo ice cream is no longer Oreo.

I can’t believe I ate that. It was terrible. I can’t believe I paid so much for the privilege.

This is a staple in Georgetown. It’s definitely still tasty ice cream (just like I remember it 32 yrs ago!) and sorts but def more expensive. We come here once a month during summer months and I remember paying $38 for 4 orders with extra toppings and waffle cones.

It’s a small place but the line is fast. Theres always 4 to 5 staff behind the counter taking care of the orders. There are inside and outside seating. They also serve hot chocolate and coffee. They also sell fudge. I haven’t tried it but it looks delicious. They also have pints and quarts of ice cream to go and they are pricey.

The bathroom is small and it’s not for customers.

Homemade ice cream with plenty of option to choose from. They give like two samples each and are pretty patient with indecisiveness. I recommend to try it. The cones aren’t that good so you can just get it in the cups if you don’t want to be charged extra.

They listed many ice cream flavors on the board, but not all of them were actually available. On the bright side it‘s just interesting to see that so many famous people have visited this place before!! Maybe the staff were friendlier than now?! They are not convinced to help you at all!!

We tried Cinammon and Pistachio ice cream. I would definitely not recommend the Pistachio- It was salty, bitter, and had a strange aftertaste.
Cinammon falvor was‘nt bad, but it also was’nt anything special. Overall, the experience felt pretty average and not particularly unique.

Thomas Sweet is hands down one of my favorite ice cream spots in DC! The flavors are always rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic flavor or something more adventurous, they have something for everyone. The mix-ins add an extra level of fun, letting you customize your treat exactly how you like it. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere feels welcoming. I always leave with a smile and can’t wait to come back. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in the area!

I love this place. It is not super fancy, but they have dozens of flavors, great portion size for the money, and most importantly, really good ice cream. Make sure you visit when you are walking up Wisconsin.

Cute little sweet stop in Georgetown.
Popped in after a museum visit and grabbed a small café au lait with rainbow sprinkles. Pleased with the generous portion and exactly what I needed on a hot afternoon. It was around $8, so just a heads-up: they don’t accept card payments under $10, so make sure you’ve got some cash if you’re flying solo. The line moved quickly and efficiently which was appreciated on a toasty day. The ice cream totally hit the spot and I will return to try more flavors!

If you’re in the mood for some delicious, creamy ice cream, look no further than Thomas Sweet. This charming ice cream shop is located in several locations throughout the United States and is a go-to destination for anyone with a sweet tooth.

The first thing you’ll notice when you walk into Thomas Sweet is the aroma of freshly made waffle cones. The cones are warm, crispy, and add the perfect complement to any scoop of ice cream.
Speaking of ice cream, Thomas Sweet has a wide variety of flavors to choose from, including classics like chocolate and vanilla, as well as unique options like peach cobbler and mint chocolate chip.

What sets Thomas Sweet apart, however, is the quality of their ice cream. It’s clear that they use only the finest ingredients, as each scoop is incredibly rich and flavorful. The texture is also perfect – not too hard or too soft, but just right.

In addition to ice cream, Thomas Sweet also serves other desserts like sorbet, frozen yogurt, and milkshakes. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the “blend-ins” – your choice of ice cream blended with your favorite mix-ins, like candy or fruit.
Overall, Thomas Sweet is a must-visit for anyone who loves ice cream. The quality is top-notch, the flavors are delicious, and the atmosphere is charming. Highly recommended!

Don’t let its popularity fool you. I wouldn’t recommend going in with high expectations. It’s an average ice cream you can find pretty much anywhere nothing special.
