We ordered spring rolls and a spicy rice noodle soup. The spring rolls were crispy and fresh, and the dipping sauce was nicely balanced. The spicy noodle soup was flavorful, rich, and comforting — perfect for a cold day. The portion size was generous and everything tasted authentic.
Service was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back.
Highly recommended!
Shanghai noodles is my favorite to order spicy ️!
I only got takeout so not sure how was the service or comfort here but the food was
They have daily deals for $6.95 but I ordered through skip so I got their BOGO deal – $10.95 for chicken noodle bowl with 2 spring rolls. Hands down one of my fav places for noodle bowls! Very nice portion of chicken (where I even have chicken leftover) and spring rolls are so crunchy perfect
I got two orders of the BOGO deal so in total got 4 bowls for $24.31. Can’t get a better deal than that!
My hubby ordered their new Menu, it was like a pancake filled with pork & shrimps.
We were told it will be a while.
We waited 30 mins.
The Beef Stew was not a Beef Stew!!
It did not taste Beef Stew at all.
But, it had a generous amount of beef!
Worst, they forgot to add “salt”!
And, Im a person who dont use too much salt, but this dish, the salt was missed!! I still tried to finish it coz its not a cheap dish & I am not a person who wants food wasted !
My hubbys order of that pancake was a Total Wreck > it was swimming in oil !! Very oily !! Also, there was 2 pieces of squid in it, which I ate, coz he doesnt eat squids.
When we got home, my hubby had a stomach ache & that really OILY pancake order he had made his stomach churn !!
The sad part is, he doesnt want to go back to Thien Viet.
Each time we come here, order takes so long, & the food is no longer consistent in taste…
The servers are good.
The Filipino girl is very friendly.
The other guy server that worked this afternoon was also ok.
Its the food that turned us off !!

UPDATE. Mar. 4, 2026
I came for Special #1, Beef.
The rice noodles were made right & it was not sticking to each other like a whole glob. It was nice & hot noodles.
The beef was tender, but the spring rolls got a bit thinner, narrower.
I thought the previous Spring Rolls tasted better.
Service was good.
I recognize the 2 servers.
The female server acknowledged me.
Place smells cleaner & not oily like before.
Will come again.
I know what you’re thinking: If the line was out the door, maybe the food WAS better. That’s fair, but Red Pepper is also a lot louder crammed as a result. It’s not just the people density but the decor which is not to my liking – a lot more “echoey”.
There is usually no waiting for tables at Thiens, and they have carpeting along with deep booths all along the outside walls. The atmosphere works very well for talking to friends.
The staff always seem to be scurrying around doing their best to take care of you. I went last week and the spring rolls probably came 2 minutes after I sat down, with the jumbo combo following 3 minutes later.
I have no problem with the food. I won’t claim to be the most discriminating palette but everything I’ve eaten there was prepared well and really hit the spot. The portions are not chintzy either.
I’ve surveyed the whole downtown of Saskatoon for coffee houses and good lunch spots, and I can easily say this is one of the best places to eat in that area. I highly recommend.
Same as before I ordered – Pai Thai rice noodles.
Tasted very decent, even though I ordered medium spicy still not Thai spicy. Very Canadian standard Thai food with little bit more sweetness that sour and spicy.
Services are kind of slow and passive, did not serve us quick enough to make us feel comfortable.
Big and clean place, very bright dining area brings back good impressions.
All in all, very Canadian-Vietnam style food in town, I would like to order or visit again.
My partner and I ordered from here today for lunch. Unfortunately, it was not as good as I remember Thiens being about 2-3 years ago. Their business was booming during that time.
When our food arrived, it smelled weird. We both ordered noodle bowls, I had a BBQ chicken, and my partner had the pork.
First few bites were alright until we dug deeper in our bowls and saw that the greens were completely old and wilted. This is disgusting. I’m not sure how this happens, or how they could allow such poor quality food to leave the kitchen. You can clearly see that the greens are old through the transparent container. This is crazy to me.
I will no longer be ordering from Thiens, what a waste of money.
