When I have craving for banh cuon, this is my go to place. It’s fast and delicious and very filling. If you don’t finish your plate, there is a designated table with togo boxes with a bag and fish sauce you can take and put your leftovers in to bring home. Very simple and convenient and fast. The banh cuon nhan thit is my go to meal but the thit nuong is also super good.

Great Bahn cuon. I had both the bbq pork and the ground pork versions. Very delicious. Service was very friendly. I also love the jugs of fish sauce on the table. I would definitely go back again but I need to come with a bigger group so I can try more items.

This place has been around as long as I can remember. My parents would take me here after church on Sunday’s from time to time. Didn’t have a breakfast and was pretty hungry so I ordered the banh bot loc which had a mochi like consistency with dried shrimp inside. Also ordered the banh cuon thit nuong. Both were made to order and came out fresh. Spent a total of $27 before tip.

This is a cash only establishment. You can zelle them too. Portions are generous. The food is so good. The texture of the banh cuon holds up very well. The ground pork and fungi filling is delicious, peppery and savory. The fish sauce is a bit too sweet for my taste but with the steamed beans sprouts, herbs and fried shallots, it works well.

Bánh Cuốn is one of those underrated Vietnamese dishes that not enough people talk about, so I was really excited to finally try this place. I’ve heard so much about it over the years but never had a chance to go since it’s pretty far from my house. Plus… it’s in Bellaire Chinatown, and honestly, I really don’t like going there — you know why .
I probably wouldn’t have gone if my friends hadn’t asked me, so at least I had a reason this time, lol.
We came on a Sunday late morning for lunch. The place was packed and busy, but we were seated right away. One thing I noticed right away was that they give you a whole jug of fish sauce at the table.
What we ordered:
Bánh Cuốn Thịt Chả Lụa
The portion was huge — very generous. Even sharing with my husband, we had a hard time finishing it. My biggest issue was that the plate was cold. The bánh cuốn itself wasn’t hot at all, which really took away from the experience. I didn’t send it back because I didn’t feel like dealing with the situation.
Bún Chả Hà Nội
Again, very large portion, which is a plus. However, I don’t understand why they used thick noodles (the kind used for Bún Bò Huế). This dish is traditionally served with thin vermicelli noodles, so that was disappointing and threw off the authenticity for me.
Bánh Cống
I believe it came with two pieces. It was just decent — nothing memorable.
Nem Chua
Came with five pieces, tightly packed in a cube. It felt store-bought rather than house-made.
Overall:
This wasn’t a great experience for me. The food was cold, lacked flavor, and the prices were on the higher side. There are many other places that serve bánh cuốn at a more reasonable price — and they actually serve it hot.
The service was okay. Our server was an older Vietnamese uncle — I wasn’t expecting amazing service, but it was fine. If you’re Vietnamese, you’ll understand exactly what I mean.
I didn’t take photos of the other dishes because I was busy talking with my friend and completely forgot.

Banh Cuon was soft and nice.
We went on a Tuesday early lunch time, service was friendly and quick.

I had eaten at this restaurant a few times in the past. Today, I introduced this restaurant to my friend. We went there for dinner. The restaurant was completely empty, and we were the only customers at that time. We ordered some rice spring rolls with grilled BBQ pork (bánh cuốn thịt nướng). Their spring rolls were very good. The soybean milk drink was also very good; they had just made it, and it was so fresh. The restaurant’s decoration is very nice, and I liked the bamboo plant forest wallpaper all over inside the restaurant. The server was very nice and friendly. If you like authentic Vietnamese spring rolls, then I would highly recommend that you come to this restaurant and try out their hot spring rolls.

Hands down best place to get bun cuon! If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out. It’s a gem:) the meat is well seasoned and the rice noodle is silky and delicious

I came to Thiên Thanh to try Bánh bột lọc (Vietnamese Steamed Tapioca Dumplings). I like the taste but they got shrimp shells in them. Not sure if this is the traditional cooking. I also ordered the noodle soup. It was excellent.
I like the green bamboo interior and giant mirror to make the restaurant appear bigger.

Banh cuon was good, we ordered the fried shrimp which was a bit too doughy for me, and also the BBQ pork which was flavorful and not too doughy. We also ordered a seafood soup which was very flavorful, broth was fresh and not too salty. This place takes cash only, and we were seated right by the speaker so it was a bit loud, but overall would recommend trying once.
