I was really disappointed with my Valentine’s Day experience at The Yellow Chilli. They squeezed in far too many foldable tables to maximize seating, but most of them were unstable and wobbly, which made the dining experience uncomfortable. The restaurant felt extremely chaotic and overcrowded rather than warm and enjoyable, as you would expect on a special occasion like Valentine’s Day.

The menu was very limited, and the biggest issue was the wait time — it took almost 2 hours for the food to arrive. The entire atmosphere felt rushed and disorganized, as if the focus was more on earning as much money as possible that day rather than ensuring guests had a pleasant experience.

Valentine’s Day is meant to be special and memorable, but unfortunately, the chaos, long waits, and overcrowding made it stressful instead of enjoyable.

Horrible experience at this restaurant for Valentine’s Day! We initially had a reservation for 5:45pm but were contacted to move the reservation up to 5:30pm. When we arrived, there was a line out the door with no host(s) to seat anyone until 5:38pm.

Upon receiving the Valentine’s Day menu, which was $120 for 2 drinks, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts, we asked for the regular menu because we did not like the predetermined food options (and we added up the prices to find that the regular menu was actually cheaper). When we received the regular menu, the waiter did not come back to take our order until 6:11pm, almost 40 minutes later! We had to track down a waiter in a different section to take our order. In addition, the food took forever to come out and was only expedited and served at 6:40pm because we were about to get up and leave. It should not take over an hour to receive food for any dinner service, regardless of the holiday. If the restaurant was fully booked, I’d be more understanding for the lack of service. However, more than half of the tables were empty.

I also urge the restaurant staff to retrain in food safety practices. Since I was seated directly in front of the kitchen doors, I noticed that more than once the cooks placed ready-to-serve food on the floor, directly by the door where the bussers were wheeling the dirty dishes.

The food itself was pretty average for Indian cuisine in Orange County. We got the Spring Veg Kofta and Lamb Vindaloo with Butter Roti to share. Our total added up to about $60 not including drinks/desserts, which is still nowhere near the original $120 they offered for the Valentine’s day menu.

The Yellow Chili’s motto of “redefining Indian food” is not reflective of the actual restaurant’s experience. I will look elsewhere for Indian food in the future.

Went in for an early lunch with my wife. First customers but we had no idea what to choose so we took our time with a drink. Ordered and then waited and waited and waited… Eventually the food arrived. My wife had cottage cheese dumplings and she liked all 3 of the dumplings. The naan bread was flat and greasy. Not puffy at all. I had a chicken on the bone dish. I would not do that again. One skinny drumstick and 3 tiny gristly bits of a wing. Picture provided. The sauce was good but for $22 was very poor value.
The ambience is what you expect next to a busy road into the mall but had irritating Indian pop music trying to drown out the sound. When the guy came to take the plates I complained about the meat but he didn’t seem to care. Said he’d tell the chef. Would not go back.

One of the best places for Indian food in South Cali. Ranju Ji is the best host you can find. I would love to revisit. The flavors and spices were a perfect combination.

We visited with an appointment, and the food was just as good as other Yellow Chilli locations. The service was decent but could be improved. The ambiance was pleasant, though the music had too many loud beats, which took away from the fine dining experience. The ice cream was overly frozen and difficult to enjoy. Parking is also a challenge you’ll likely need to park across the street from the restaurant.

Great experience as always at the yellow chilli. We were full vegetarian with a couple of cocktails thrown in. The staff are accommodating and friendly. Food for an American Indian restaurant is very good indeed!

I’ve visited this restaurant quite a few times, and it always hits the mark.

Tucked away at the corner of the district plaza, this place offers a fine dining experience for Indian cuisine, the ambiance of the restaurant is good. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the place has a good capacity of indoor seating along with a cozy patio dining area.

The menu offers a great variety of options. While it’s a bit on the pricier side, the taste and quality are worth it. We’ve tried their mixed non-veg platter and paneer appetizers both solid picks—but the crispy Gobi appetizer is a standout. The dum gosht biryani was another highlight flavorful, and good. The bread basket was generous and perfect for sharing among four. They also have a small bar with a nice mix of cocktails and mocktails.

Overall, if you’re craving a classy Indian dining experience, this place should definitely be on your list.
