I hate to write this type of review but it is very important. This restaurant served me raw fish. The beans were salty. This is the 3rd time I have ordered at this place for my family and there has been an issue. I have not said anything until now. I informed the restaurant and they were receptive however this is unacceptable.

Amazing food! We decided to drive from Portsmouth over to check this place out, 45mins later we were not disappointed. We ordered the oxtail, fried tilapia and beef stew with collard greens, spicy and white rice with fried plantains. The oxtail was sooo succulent, savory with amazing flavors. Fried tilapia had the most crunchy super light texture with an amazing flavor. You can’t go wrong with anything here. Yo top it off the bar tender was so kind and chill. Will be back for sure.

We’ve had nothing but great experiences at Gumaas all three times we’ve been so far. Amazing home-cooked food at a family-owner and operated restaurant!! Highly recommend trying this place out. We’ll be back for sure!

We had a DELICIOUS dinner here. I had the goat, spicy rice and collards. My gal had the beans, spicy rice and collards. Everything was delicious and authentic. The atmosphere is “real”, everyone was nice. Also, the owner, Maya (from Sudan), came out to ask how we were doing (as well as her family now and then). She told us her story and that was about as good as the food. Highly recommended (so much so I recommended to the hotel staff that they add it to their list of recommended restaurants).

Love the place. The employees and owners are great. The bartenders know how to take care of you. Gumaas curry chicken is literally the best meal I can find within 20 mile radius of my apartment. The Jerk Chicken is also completely amazing. All their options are great. My friends and I get gumaas at least 1-2 times a week. I’ve even got it 4 times in one week.

I literally loved eating here. They serve such amazing food and have great diversity in there restaurant. I can finally eat some of my culture food without having to make it all the time and its cheap! (super cheap).
There service is astronomical. I definitely recommend that you cone try this place even as something new to try. My favorite dish was the mac n cheese, they really made a food I hate into something I really like. All of this food was made with true love. It was amazing.

If you live in New Hampshire you know how hard it is to find African food! Good food and good music. You need to try it! You won’t be sorry!

Absolutely amazing costumer service! Yawi was our waitress and she was soo sweet! She made you feel like family. I’m African myself and I loved being able to have authentic African food! Prices were great and all of the food is made to order and is so so good! My kids both got curry chicken with rice, beans, and Mac and cheese and I got ox tail with collard greens, fried plantains, and mac and cheese. For appetizers we got mozzarella sticks and fried shrimp and it was delicious! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Gumaa’s. I will absolutely be back!!

Great restaurant with excellent food. Variety is nice and the food is cooked to order. It has traditional African fare along with items you’d see at any American restaurant. I had the BBQ ribs (the meat was fall off the bone, with homemade Mac and cheese and fries for $12. So the food is great and the prices very fair. The owner, Fay, actually works in the kitchen to make certain each plate is top notch. There is a big variety of alcoholic beverages along with soft drinks so if you’re not hungry the bar is the place to be. I highly recommend this restaurant as it is nice to see a restaurant open in Manchester with great food and prices.

Absolutely amazing! Everything was fresh and made to order. The goat was perfect. Tender, flavorful and a huge portion. The shrimp skewers were outstanding w. peppers and onions grilled. The fried tilapia also excellent. My daughter got the ribs and, which fell off the bones. Personally, the collared greens were my favorite. They are really hard to find around here, but Gumaa’s has some of the best I’ve had. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Pricing was very reasonable. Average of $16 per plate, which Includes 2 sides. Friendly service and family owned. I 100% recommend to anyone looking for something delicious and different than the traditional New England cuisine.
