Reminded me of Grandmama’s cookin’! It’s a small, unassuming cafe with casual seating for about 6, but don’t let the looks fool you. The home-cooked food is delicious! I had meatloaf, fried apples , green beans and freshly made cornbread. They have a surprisingly extensive menu. The ladies were friendly and welcoming. (Cash only.) It’s a hidden gem. I will make it a regular on my lunch breaks.

I am so disappointed. This is the second time an allegedly soul food place in the Clarksville, Tennessee area has let me down. The lady I guess was the owner seemed nice. There were also two other elderly women helping out in the kitchen. When I walked in one was coming out the bathroom and didn’t wash her hands and went straight to the refrigerator. I don’t care to make negative reviews but I will let others know MY experiences to keep them from wasting money or going through what I did. I ordered 3 plates. All were horrible. I sat outside in disbelief forcing myself to try to eat my plate & I just spent roughly $48 for nothing. I tasted my plate which was baked chicken, chicken dressing, and Mac & cheese with cornbread. The chicken had no flavor and seemed old as well as everything else. The dressing was cold like it came out the refrigerator and wasn’t properly heated enough. The cornbread was flat like a pancake but it was okay. The Carmel cake wasn’t good seemed store bought and dried out…didn’t taste like the typical Carmel cake.. My husband had the $17.50 chitterlings plate which is one of his favorite dishes but he didn’t eat it at all…he said it was horrible with no seasoning and rubbery…they did look very dry. My children had the catfish plate with cabbage and mac & cheese…the cabbage didn’t have a drop of seasoning. The fish didn’t look like catfish but tilapia. I literally wasted $48 because we didn’t eat any of the food…Where I’m from soul good is cooked the SAME DAY!!!! There isn’t any saving it for the next day. Customers can tell the difference. This taught me a lesson to cook my own food or could have easily gone to Golden Coral…And before anyone replies to my comment this is my experience and would you have given all of my money back?! Never again…
Edit to respond to the owner: Whether you consider this slammed or not is your opinion like I gave my opinion on this visit. This is money I lost. And I don’t care If you been in business 60 plus years then you should know if the food is old and how it should be served. Golden Coral food does have season to it. The lady came out the bathroom stating that the toilet water is constantly running the one that’s on the same floor as your kitchen. It’s only so big in there. Plus there is another person who in the reviews who also had a bad experience with the chitterlings as well… for people who are viewing my review please look at the lunch basket located in Greeville, Mississippi on Facebook or Google…look at the pictures and you will understand why I know how soul food should look and taste….

Felt like walking into mom’s kitchen. Janice was very friendly. We chatted while my dinner was made. I got the catfish with yams and mac n cheese with a faygo red pop, my favorite. Fish was cooked perfect. Two huge pieces. Mac n cheese tasted like moms and the yams had just enough all spice. Everything was yummy. I will Def be back to try some more dishes. Price was great too. Thank you to the msn at Mikes tire shop for recommending. Older heavier set black dude i sat and talked to for a minute. See ya’ll soon!

The food was amazing . My son and I loved every bit of it. He got the fish plate and I got the vegetarian plate and oh my everything was so delicious. We will most definitely be going back for some of the best soul food in town. Thank you for having such delicious food and making us feel so comfortable being there. Our waitress and staff was so nice but unfortunately the food missed the mark for us this time. The pulled pork was very tough and cut into big chunks with a lot of chewy fat throughout. The fries were stale and had a freezer burnt taste. The green beans were inedible due to the sheer amount of salt and the corn muffins were rock hard. There were also a lot of flies in the restaurant which is off putting. Hopefully this was just a fluke and we just came on a bad day.

I actually have considered going to this place for food. But considering how I have watched somebody who supposedly runs the place talk down to service workers at my local donut place, I can’t imagine that it’s a good guy that runs that place. Man has no respect for service workers who were doing their best to be as polite as possible while he was interrogating and criticizing their food without even spending money. If he talks to random service workers like that I can’t imagine how he talks to his employees.

I’ve eaten here before and always enjoyed my food I had a taste for chitterlings today so I stopped by please believe I am very picky about where I eat them at. These were super clean the juice was darn near clear yes they cost but it takes a good amount of time to get them this clean worth every penny

Customer Service I’d AMAZING and so is the food. Takes me back to when I had my grandmother…and the ladies are so polite. As long as they are in business I will always eat here and tell EVERYONE about this WONDERFUL RESTAURANT.
