Her family has been in the food industry since 1983 and has been very active with the family’s business in the baking industry until 1999 when she started her own family. Wayne, her husband, and their children have been her biggest fans until her co-workers talked her into cooking for them on a regular basis. Since The Wooden Spoon’s inception, Tina and Wayne have been catering to businesses in the area for their breakfast and lunch needs. While their specialty is American cuisine, their shop features high grade, deli meats. Taking that one step further, Wayne and Tina are determined to put a twist on family favo

Reviews
1.) we ended up ordering chocolate milk, because the restaurant didn’t have the “powder” for hot cocoa. That is my point. You can be out of it but clearly its just a powder and not actual hot coca. We ordered chcocolate milk. We didnt “save money”
2.) I dont leave negative reviews unless it’s a mold infested hotel or restaurant with not good food. You can scroll and see my boastful reviews of amazing reaturants in the area.
3.) A nice thing would have been to say “man im sorry we didnt met your expectations” vs. Trying to justify the fake chemical tasting food.
4.) Im aware how soft local scrambled eggs taste. I eat them daily. This was nasty wet soggy no flavored scrambled eggs.
5.) Funny how the restaurant didn’t even mention the chemical tasting red dye fake raspberry syrup drizzle.
No idea how this place is highly recommended. The food was literally inedible.
I got the lemon ricotta pancakes-which are supposed to be their specialty. The raspberry drizzle is a fake raspberry and so chemical tasting its inedible. You know the cupcakes that have so much food dye you can taste it? That’s what the “raspberry” drizzle tasted like. Red food dye. There was no lemon other than some zest on top. The pancakes were dense – not light and fluffy. I mean. Literally i ate two bites and couldn’t eat any more it tasted so chemical.
You couldnt eat the scrambled eggs & hashbrowns either. It was a fake butter and soupy. (You can see in the picture). I love butter and these tasted AWFUL.
We ordered a breakfast quesadilla too. Zero flavor.
We tried to order hot cocoa and they “didnt have any”?? So they use packets and not real cocoa? How can you not make hot cocoa?
The server was kind and offered to remake the food, but after gross bites we didn’t want to eat anymore. She discounted our meal, which was nice. Server was kind & restaurant was empty.
You can enjoy a variety of upper class styles with a quality of rich original dishes.
I didn’t love the coffee flavor but everything else was good.
I had a breakfast burrito. Good combination of vegetables and protein. I love the fresh hash browns.
Husband and cousins had the Angry Irishman it was very good. Just be careful of you are not used to super spicy flavors, it is raw jalapeno. We really liked it.
We shared a caramel macchiato pancakes. It is a very good combination, I would just like the toppings to be on each layer of the pancakes bc just having them on the top was not enough for all the pancakes 🙂
And my friend had a Mediterranean avocado toast, it looked good and she liked it.
We will definitely return when we are around Overland Park.
It is definitely a cozy spot, but we did not have to wait long, maybe about 10 minutes.
I ordered the angry Irishman, my wife ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich, my son, ordered the apple cider, pancakes, and my wife and I wanted to share the lemon ricotta pancakes.
Everything was just absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. The service was also very good.
It is a little pricey compared to other spots, but you are paying for quality, and in many cases, scratch cooking. As such, you can taste the flavor difference and quality.
We are big foody people so eat out alot. We had high hopes of this place but it was disappointing.
