Fried pickles are lightly breaded so the pickle flavor really pops through! The sauerkraut balls with their dipping sauce are ADDICTIVE and the burger was cooked perfectly!
Along with the awesome food, the staff are super friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere is great and as a big guy I appreciate the extremely solid construction of all their seating.
Will be back with my wife very soon!
Food was fine, nothing earth shattering or bad. Just fine. Fair prices.
The management needs to do something. You cannot operate a restaurant long term like this successfully. They are lucky the staff they have don’t just walk out.
If the servers see this, well done. Y’all did the best you could. If the management sees this, you’re gonna end up closed if you don’t get more staff.
Walked in and was greeted with the warmth of a malfunctioning chatbot. The bartender and one server looked like I had just interrupted their final round of “who can care less.” Not ideal. Thankfully, Jacqueline—who ended up serving me—brought some actual human warmth to the table. Appreciate that.
Tried their so-called “signature” Wooden Shoe Fried Chicken. Five pieces, small salad, and some fries. The salad felt like it had survived a time loop (yesterday’s, at best), and parts of the chicken were dry enough to qualify as future Mars rations. Taste? Almost none. Maybe the flavor got lost in transmission.
If you’re not a local, skip it. Honestly, a gas station chicken leg and a cold beer from the mini fridge might be a more honest—and satisfying—experience.
When you first walk in there’s a really nice bar area and we was immediately greeted so it has a very friendly atmosphere in the front of the establishment. Mind you this is a Wednesday night so it’s not very busy besides just having locals and we waited there for at least 7 minutes before getting a drink order.
We decided to order off of their September specialty menu which at first glance looked very refreshing. I ordered a Waldorf salad with blackened chicken, the blackened chicken was moist and seasoned very nicely but the Waldorf salad was a thick mayonnaise that left a heaviness on the tongue.
I had also ordered the French onion soup which was a bit too salty for my liking. We had also ordered the pork belly which flavor is amazing but the fat needs to be crispy. The coleslaw that they had with the pork belly was the best thing we ate.
My friend had their own creation of chicken cordon bleu with a fatty oil sauce “sorry I cannot remember what the sauce is actually called”. My friend was very disappointed. Chicken was not seasoned but moist. We were honestly trying to figure out what the sauce was supposed to taste like and could not figure it out.
Our waitress and her helper were very nice nothing but smiles and was very attentive to us, definitely friendliness was an A+.
I had ordered food to go for my family and my son’s chicken tenders were not seasoned at all and husbands Alfredo was just a plain cream sauce with no additional seasonings,or cheese. Side of broccoli tasted like they just set the broccoli in a boiling pot of water for a minute and threw it in the container. No salt, no butter, not even a smidge of pepper. It was off the kids menu but even kids have taste buds.
Restaurants like this is why people think the Midwest can’t handle flavor or spice. Please understand that corrective criticism can help and save establishment especially when their family owned and I hope they see this knowing where work needs to be done.
