Mind Set On Travel
What a great find on our drive to Richmond. We had the sandwich with 2 sides (one pulled pork and one pulled chicken). Both were moist and very tasty. Range of sides from green beans to onion rings to coleslaw and bacon cheese fries. Left very full and satisfied.

Ordered the fried pickles and got soggy, salty pickle slices covered in slippery breading. They’re not made well.
Also ordered the wings, and those are much better. Decently sized, well cooked, and a yummy sauce.

Being from Texas, had to try this small town Texas BBQ joint on a drive back to Charlottesville from NOVA. Glad I did. The place feels like a classic, ‘yall come back’ Texas BBQ spot – super casual and hometown friendly. And smells like BBQ heaven. Shayna was just the nicest server!! She is a big part of what makes this place great! Good portions – plenty leftover to take home for another meal or two. Fried okra and green beans were fantastic and reminded me of my childhood in Texas. Brisket and smoked chicken were pretty good, too. Look forward to trying their smoked sausage special next time, and hope it finds its way to the regular menu, like every BBQ joint in Texas. Awesome country music playlist to boot!

Went in here thinking it was like mission BBQ till I was SMACKED with the smell of REAL TEXAS BBQ as soon as I come through the door.

I am so sorry to give this review. However, the meat portions are small and the brisket was dry and cold. The pulled pork had no texture. It was like mushy baby food. The sides were the only thing that was good. I hope that this review will help bring improvements. The meals that we received were not worth the high price. Sorry…

I have to say this place was a great find, I’m from the UK so I know polite service when I see it, I must say I was thoroughly impressed with the staff, the waitress was so kind.
This is a single bbq place, meaning it’s not a chain so it must be family run, they are very friendly towards tourist so definitely hit it up if you are in the area visiting Shannandoah.
The chef has a flare for serving the bbq with just the right level of seasoning, it wasn’t over powering or aggressive or too salty like I see in other places. And, let, me, tell, you, about, the moisture of that meat! Wow! That guy knows how to give you a juicy brisket!
They are clearly a known entity within the community as there were a lot of locals there, don’t miss it and I highly recommend this.

Stopped by this little cozy spot on our way for a little get away on my wife’s birthday.
Food was really good and served hot, no complaints there.
Was well on the way for a definite 5 star review but then the server mucked things up.
My wife on her way back from using the restroom asked her if she could have some mustard and the lady told her she would bring it to her, great….. When she brought the mustard to our table she quickly set the cup of mustard down in front of me and quickly walked off, strike one, bring the requested item to the person that requested it, don’t totally ignore the lady at the table just because she’s an alpha and your intimidated.
Second strike, the lady towards the tail end of our meal returned, didn’t ask if we were done, didn’t ask if we needed anything else, and most importantly didn’t take notice that we both had food left on our plates and had given no indication that we were done yet. She stated “I’ll get your payment up at the register” and started to grab my wife’s tray while she still had a portion of her burger left to eat. My wife with cat like reflexes grabbed her tray and said I’m not done eating yet. The server then out of what I can only explain as being totally flustered at that moment proceeded to quickly and cheaply apologize while at the same grabbing my tray which strike three you guessed it I still had food on my plate.
I believe she was too busy hanging out and fraternizing with the kitchen staff and bar tender instead of paying closer attention to her customers and what she was doing. Some people can not multitask and when your customer’s attention is made to suffer this is why you do not get tipped after the meal.
Like I said don’t let this review convince you not to try this place because the food was great but service was definitely lacking.
