This place is THE definition of high class on a budget. The service was impeccable. The bourbon was exquisite. The food was amazing. The price was fair and much lower than I expected. My family and I had a top-tier dining experience on a blue-collar budget. Highly recommend! A HUGE shout out to Shawn. He was an AMAZING and attentive server who made our visit that much better.

My husband and I enjoyed dinner here on our last evening. The ambiance was casual and relaxing.
I enjoyed the Filet tips with a sweet potato and asparagus, which was all delicious. My husband enjoyed the Mahi fish tacos and a house salad, loaded with tomatoes, cheese, and bacon.
Our server was friendly and attentive.
We do recommend enjoying a meal here !

The Winchester, a modern American restaurant located within the Delta Hotel in Ashland, Kentucky, offers a dining experience that largely impresses, though with some room for refinement. Known for its focus on classic American dishes with a contemporary twist, The Winchester delivers a welcoming atmosphere and attentive service, making it a solid choice for both locals and visitors alike.
One standout dish here is the steak and eggs. Perfectly cooked to order, the steak arrives tender and juicy, with eggs that are fluffy and well-seasoned, making for a hearty, satisfying meal. It’s clear that the kitchen takes care with even simple dishes, ensuring high-quality ingredients shine through. Another highlight is the Cajun pasta, which comes bursting with flavor and a generous portion size. The pasta is well-cooked, and the Cajun spices balance nicely with the creamy sauce, adding a bit of heat without overwhelming the dish.
However, not every dish hits the mark. The deviled eggs, while prepared with care, fall short on flavor. The sauce used with them has an unusual taste that doesn’t quite complement the dish. This same sauce, or something quite similar, also appears on the crab rangoons, leading to a sense of redundancy rather than a variety of flavors. Although both appetizers are well-prepared individually, the flavor profiles clash slightly, detracting from an otherwise enjoyable meal.
Overall, The Winchester is a worthy spot for quality American fare, with a few tweaks needed to make the appetizer experience match the high standards set by the main dishes.

Went on Valentine’s Day night, they pushed my reservation back by an hour and some change. They didn’t call beforehand or reach out to me. Whenever we finally got in, our service wasn’t great. Our server was very all over the place, forgetful, wasn’t responsive, and didn’t give us forks until about 5 mins after our appetizer was served. We also told him we wanted the Tiramisu, and he said let me know when you’re ready for it, so we said we were ready to order it. However, he left our table to get check on our entrees first and then didn’t come back for probably another 5-10 mins. Finally right before we finished our entrees we asked about the tiramisu and he now says they’re all out. He did us a free chocolate cake, which we were thankful for tho.
Concerning the food, the deviled eggs were pretty good but had some weird soy-type sauce that threw off the flavor. The filet mignon medallions were really good but one was pretty red for medium rare, which they replaced: so thanks for that! My cajun chicken pasta was okay, and it was a huge portion, so A+ overall. Dinner was good, we had fun and the food was decent for the price.

Wow. So bad. Trying really hard to come up with something nice to say…the hostess was pleasant enough. The bathrooms were pretty dirty. Our reservation was at 9:45 but they told us it would be around 11pm before we got a table. We ended up eating at the bar (another customer told us that was an option, staff never mentioned it.) Appetizer was ok (cheese curds) but the Chicken Parm & my husband’s Shrimp Scampy were inedible. I swear it came with Walmart brand texas toast garlic bread and chef boy r dee spaghetti from a can. Bartender wasn’t busy but still couldn’t find the time to take our order or check if our food was OK. We sat with full plates not touching our food after the first bite for around 45 minutes. The manager saw us and never came over to see what the issue was. We ended up ordering Papa John’s for our Valentines dinner instead and it was delicious (great customer service as well). I’ve been a server and bartender for years so I can let a lot slide but this was just an inexcusable mess from start to finish, talk about a waste of money.

I ended staying at this hotel on a work trip and found this as one of the most recommended places to eat. So my coworker and I took the plunge. Let’s start with the appetizers …Crab nachos were fantastic ( pictured). Wagyu sliders where crazy good with the sauce (pictured) now the main course Ribeye steak was cooked perfectly with garlic green beans and backed potato’ (pictured) and the other Ribeye again cooked perfectly with fried corn on the cob and crochets ( pictured). You have to finish with a desert which we had banana cheesecake (pictured) and a peanut butter chocolate cheesecake (pictured). The server Mark was fantastic. Great suggestions and conversations. I suggest stopping in and giving it a try.

There’s skill in this kitchen, but it’s being thwarted.
I’m really confused by this place. Most dishes I ordered seem to have a level of effort put in that matches the price, but the ingredients are so far below that level of effort, more fitting in a Denny’s. The cheese curds were breaded and fried perfectly, but the cheese inside must have been mozzarella because they had no flavor at all. No notes on the fried corn, easy highlight of the meal. The steak was cooked perfectly along with the herb crust, which complimented its flavor well, but the steak itself was tough and stringy even medium rare, which is not what you should expect from a $40 meal. Caesar salad was also less than ideal, premade croutons are disappointing at that price point though these were fine but starchy, factory shredded parm is gross in this application and something is wrong with the dressing. It’s very bitter and sour in a way that tastes more like spoiled dairy than lemon juice.
Overall, this place charges a premium and does not deliver, though I’d guess that’s the result of management. The effort is clearly there in plating and preparation but ingredients are subpar

So we didn’t end up eating here really. Had an appetizer and some drinks just to kind of check the place out. Very nice, clean atmosphere, great bartender. We did end up having the cheese curds which were probably the best I’ve had in a long long time. We did look over the menu but I will admit, this is a place we’d have to come to right after getting paid. Prices weren’t too bad, and I’m assuming the price will reflect the quality. Half the time, at a standard steak house chain restaurant, you pay a decent price but the food ends up being less than superb. I’ve heard from alot of people that the food at The Winchester is very good. Plan on coming here at some point for dinner. Our bartender was extremely nice and easy to talk to. We came late at night so couldn’t really experience how this place runs during a dinner service. Can’t wait to come back.

Restaurant is generally nice. Crab Rangoons were incredible. And that’s about where it ended. Surf and turf with lobster tail. Was an easy 4 out of 10. Lobster took a knife to cut and was like chewing bubble gum. Dessert was *peanut butter cheesecake* it was Bananna peanut butter with no peanut butter taste. For a $75 bill it was worth about $40 max.

DO NOT MISS THE CHEESY CRAB NACHOS TO START YOUR MEAL! Everything here is great, always hot and fresh, always served with a smile! The Captain’s Platter (Scallops, Shrimp, Fish, & Snow Crab Cluster) is my go-to when ordering! Mixed drinks are well made and flavorful, atmosphere is calm and soothing.
