We hadn’t tried out the food here yet but decided to try it out for our anniversary! I, of course, knew the service would be great because I know at least two people who work there but the food was awesome! Loved everything we tried and the alcohol selection was pretty good too! I had some honey lavender cider and it may be my new favorite alcohol!!!

If the weather cooperated, we could have sat outside with our girls (four legged). The service attentive. Ambiance great and they accommodated us by putting on the Seattle Seahawks game!
The food was absolutely delicious. I questioned my husband getting the Hawaiian plate but found myself eating almost all of his mac salad. Brisket was delicious, husband loved it because not pure fat like some places. The pulled pork was tasty but what surprised me was baked beans. I’m not fan but they were damn good.
If wasn’t so full, would have gotten smores brownie.
Next trip, gotta try the wings.

First time going , definitely not the last time . Food was great very good size portions. I did the Mac and Cheese with chili brisket . Cool little spot to hang out .

Honestly, this is our favorite place to eat in South Beach or Newport. We come at least once a week. The specials board is always fun. The restaurant smells amazing, which is definitely a sign of good food. Food and fries are seasoned well! The portion (of say, the 1/3 old school burger made with ground brisket) may *look* small with the bun, but me and my friends are all STUFFED after attempting to eat one. I usually eat half and save half for later, especially with the amazing portion of fries! Trust me when I say, it’s so so good! And, they smoke everything, it’s always fresh. We love the Wilds! Pictured is the chicken sandwich, you’re my boy blue burger, birra tacos, pork tacos, and the tri tip beef and ched. YUM!

Maybe other people have had a better experience here, but I did not. It is one of the most expensive and most disappointing meals I have had in Newport. The food was overpriced and either flavorless or horribly over-peppered. I got the “1 meat and 2 sides” with pulled pork (not actually pulled?), coleslaw, and mac and cheese. The only thing I ate was the mac and cheese, because we waited so long to be able to order and for food to be made that I was STARVING by the time the food was brought out, and I still had to cover it in salt and pepper for it to taste like anything. The pork came out not pulled, with no sauce and with no sort of bread product to accompany it (most bbq places have a bun, a popover, a biscuit, or SOMEthing), and it was a good amount just fast/gristle. The grease pooled around my cup of coleslaw and quickly congealed around the bottom because the restaurant itself is so cold. I tried one bite of the coleslaw and immediately regretted it; it was basically pre-packaged “slaw mix” from a grocery store, it was already browning, and it was so coated in pepper it was inedible. I honestly don’t understand how this food was this expensive (not to mention a mandatory gratuity because we joined friends for a celebration). Seating and atmosphere were also awful. No one at the table could hear each other because of live music – which was good music, but this place is very much NOT a music venue, and it was so loud and incredibly overstimulating that eventually some of us just gave up trying to talk to each other. The tables are poorly laid out – people kept bumping into one side of our table as they scooted through trying to get to the single bathroom in the restaurant, which was constantly occupied. The servers were nice enough, but there clearly wasn’t enough staff to run the place well, and no one seemed to have any sense of urgency despite us having waited so long to order. Unfortunately, I won’t be back as I can’t justify the cost for the experience.

Best BBQ I’ve ever had! I’ve been hearing and seeing the buzz via social media about this up and coming BBQ joint “across the bridge and up the hill” in the Southbeach neighborhood of Newport. We were passing through town last week and had to see what the hype was about. We navigated to this new part of Newport that we didn’t even know existed.
Up at the top of the hill was this cool glowing log cabin like place on the edge of a forest. We walked in and were blasted by the insane smell of delicious BBQ! The place was slammed! Music, surround sound and just a cool vibe.
A super nice gal greeted us from behind the bar, then came around and handed us menus with a big smile and sat us at a table by the window. She talked about the menu, special board, and how all meats are smoked in house (freaking awesome by the way), sauces made in house, bread baked fresh in house, etc. It was like sensory overload, but in the best way!
She recommended some great sounding dishes. I went with the old school burger ground from their house brisket. She sold me on get it “Deluxe style” with fresh produce from their local farmer’s market. (How cool is that) Best burger I’ve Ever had! Service was amazing! She brought our beers right away. Our food arrived a bit later. They were super busy, so we got it.
There were 2 gals running the place. Both On it. Our server’s name was Stacy. I didn’t catch the other gals name. Mai Tai IPA was damn good. My buddies birria grilled cheese with consume (I’ll get that next time). It was all extremely good! Great overall experience. Highly recommend. We can’t wait to come back. In the meantime, we’ll be shouting to Everyone we know to head “across the bridge and up the hill” to the BEST BBQ IN NEWPORT!!! Seriously.

First of all I’d like to say this is a solid BBQ restaurant , definitely the best my wife and I have tasted in the 53 weeks of belonging to this beautiful county of Lincoln. The service is friendly and give off a positive vibe. The chef that is making all the magic happen is Shane. This man has some mad skills. Best I’ve tasted in the North Western parts of this great beautiful location. Awesome BBQ, a good selection of brews on tap, Blues playing throughout the restaurant, not too loud. A definite winner, and a much needed BBQ establishment in the Newport Oregon area. I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves great food and just a great time.

We came in with a large group on a Sunday afternoon after the lunch rush and before dinner. Our group had mixed reviews on their food. But I’ll say this, when you go to any restaurant, you need to be able to figure out what their signature dishes are, and you won’t be disappointed. For example, one of my friends ordered wings, and I thought to myself, why would you order wings here? We already know where to get good wings, try something new!
I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was the best I’ve had in a long time. The chicken was a thigh, which is great because it has good flavor and it’s tender and juicy. The batter was light, and still very crunchy. I could taste the spices in the batter. Well done. Fries were great flavor, a mix of crunchy and soggy.
There was a variety of sauces that were all home made, even the ketchup. And there was also a BBQ and cherry sauce. You could tell the chef put a lot of thought and effort into crafting some good quality food. I could taste the nuances between the different sauces and they went well with my sandwich. It’s stuff like this that helps me respect a restaurant more – they care about the food they’re serving.
We had a large group and the servers were very kind and responsive. I spoke with the chef after and got a sense of his approach to food. He told me he didn’t have any tomato on the menu because he hasn’t found a good local, seasonal supplier and therefore doesn’t want to serve gross tasting tomatoes. I respect that.
Since they’re relatively new in the community, it seemed like they have some operational things to work out as they gear up for the spring and summer season. I’m sure they will figure it out. The food prices were a little high for my liking but I understand, being on the coast (a tourist town), prices of things are usually high anyway. As a local I would come back more often for that chicken sandwich if it were a couple dollars less. But BBQ is expensive to buy, prep and cook, so profit margins are slim.
Overall, I would recommend. Order something unique, be present, enjoy the atmosphere, be thoughtful in your review.
