The main was a pleasant chicken dish with vegetables.
The dessert was nice but I was left with a sense of disappointment that I didn’t really see bib gourmand quality food. I am reasonably experienced having had food at a total of 135 michelin stars.
Staff were more attentive to chatting to eachother at the counter.
My mocktail was insipid, it was supposed to have ginger and tonic in it. It was prepared by one of the seemingly junior staff and it was supposed to be carbonated but was flat. When I asked for it to be replaced the more experienced waitress agreed to change it but instructed me that it had been made to a set recipe and it was changed because of my personal taste! No, it was flat AND insipid nothing to do with my personal taste.
We had little engagement from staff and were ignored when we left, no passing comments as we left.
Shame, the food isn’t bad, main and dessert ok but let down by front of house.
Mushroom, Spiced Cauliflower, Potatoes (made specially for us due to cross contamination in the fryer). Artichoke Risotto.
Their house bread rolls and hummus are delicious (and complimentary, very generous!).
The food is perfect and obviously of the highest quality. Service was quick, attentive and welcoming. Beautiful dining room with every little detail thought of. Loved the gluggle jugs for water! Everything from the fresh bread rolls to the thinnest pastry on desert was just perfect!
When you order, you’re able to choose from various menus on your table (some of which are very good value).
The service speed for food and drinks was perfect for the occasion and the staff were really friendly. I had the Roots menu, which was honestly amazing and such great value. The filet of beef was just exquisite! Others on my table also really enjoyed the venison starter, the chicken liver parfait and the banoffee soufflé.
We will absolutely be returning to this restaurant and would recommend to all. I think the meal I had could have been star worthy – it was definitely on par, if not better than, other starred restaurants in the area.
live dj with great classic dance music, menu du jour was very reasonable with 3 courses for £36 for quality food, also received a complimentary dessert as it was for a birthday, will be back!
