Fantastic location in downtown Elizabethtown! The interior exudes speakeasy vibes, adding charm to the experience. While the whiskey pours were a tad light, the drinks were still enjoyable. The food was delicious overall, though the sandwich could’ve used a bit more meat. Nonetheless, the ambiance and flavors make it worth a visit. A gem for those seeking a cozy spot with good eats and drinks!

The WEW is a great little restaurant downtown just off the square. The decor and atmosphere is cozy, and the staff that I met were top-notch.

The food was good, but the meal was not perfect. I ordered a burger with an egg on it plus lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The burger with the egg was wrapped tightly in wax paper and sat down in a basket on its edge. When I attempted to unwrap it to put the toppings on it, I found that the egg and cheese had run to the bottom of the wax paper pocket.

This was an absolute mess! I used a pile of napkins because the burger was a slimy mess (see the picture). This really put a damper on an otherwise excellent experience. If it were not for this and a lack of seasoning on the burger, it would have been a five-star visit.

I conveyed my concern to my server, I only hope that he passed it on to the kitchen staff. If they had applied the toppings before wrapping the burger this may not have happened… If they had just laid the burger flat on a plate it definitely wouldn’t have happened. Sometimes being artsy or trendy is not the way to go.

I almost forgot, the entrees are only served after 5:00 pm! I went specifically wanting a hot brown, but it’s not available for lunch – sandwiches only.

I loved the eclectic decor in this restaurant! It was so fitting of an historic building with old frames, windows and doors making up the interior walls. The food was outstanding! I had the crab sandwich which had a hearty amount of delicious crab in a light dressing with tomato on a perfectly soft-on-the-inside and crunchy-on-the-outside bun. The dragon balls are a must try as the fried mashed potatoes in a crunchy coating were an unexpected melt-in-your mouth delight. I chose bread pudding for dessert and it came swimming in a Carmel sauce that was a perfect complement to the warm cinnamon bread. We had 6 people for lunch with two appetizers, an order of homemade chips, 5 sandwiches, homemade chips, 2 desserts, 2 cokes, 2 beers and a mixed drink and our bill was $123 before tip. Well worth the visit.

Really enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. Their homemade fries and chips were delicious and we loved their wicked sauce! Our server was very nice and the food came out quickly. They have games you can grab and play while you wait like cards or connect 4. We will definitely go back here the next time we are in Etown.

Wandered in here while walking around, and I’m glad we did. The bartender took care of our table, and he provided excellent service. He made an old fashioned with a lavender bourbon, and my friend really enjoyed it. The scotch eggs were tasty, but maybe a touch over cooked. The dragon balls were delicious, and I would definitely order them again. For mains, we had fish tacos with chips and fries. The fish tacos were good, but could use a sauce to bring it all together. The chips and fries were both very well made! I will definitely be back next time I pass through.

An absolutely amazing surprise. Traveling by and stopped in on a totally random visit, and I am so glad we did. They were still serving dinner at 930pm. The portions were large and the down home cooking style hit the spot when we needed it the most. It was refreshing to see a made from scratch kitchen that truly had flare and didn’t just fry everything. Wide variety of food options on the menu that made me even more impressed with how fast the food came out. They had live music by a musician with the last name Mudd who was actually pretty talented as well. All of this while still keeping the small town feel when we noticed there was a baby in the bar. Kentucky is wild like that but it just adds to the feeling you can’t get many other places.

The scotch eggs are amazing.

P.s. I dont support babies in bars. It was just what I saw.

Hard to find at night, but glad we kept circling. Cute homey atmosphere with very welcoming vibe.
As a craft beer lover, I was supremely disappointed in the on tap options (plenty of bottles or cans) so tried a cocktail instead.
Good selection of sandwich options, but you must try the BBQ chicken and smokey beans. YUM! Anticipate a wait (i.e. order an appetizer of you’re hungry).
Would love to hang out here with friends.

My boyfriend asked me if I wanted to try the Wicked Eyed Woman for lunch. His assistant was going to pick it up. I have heard great things so I was on board.

I am a foodie, and had a hard time deciding what I wanted. Several things looked, and sounded appealing. I always read reviews, and look at photos posted by patrons of their meal. They say they make things from scratch (sauces, dressings, etc.), use local fresh ingredients, and more.

All I can say is TOATAL DISAPPOINTMENT . I ordered the fish and chips with what is described as creamy slaw, and I switched the chips for roasted veggies. I wanted onion rings, but they were out.

The fish pieces were tiny, soggy, and absolutely no flavor, slaw was anything but creamy, super soggy, my roasted veggies was unseasoned potatoes with one sliced carrot, the portions were not as advertised, and the two sauces were unseasoned.

My boyfriend the wonderful guy that he is gave me half of his brisket melt (he didn’t want it), and what looks like to be almost his whole order of chips. That is unusual for him to have that much leftover. When I bit into the melt, and the chips I understood why. Chips are supposed to be crispy not mushy, and the brisket was well let’s just say a premade frozen precooked brisket from Walmart is better. It didn’t even taste or look like brisket. Honestly no flavor.

I called and asked for the owner. She is actually the one that answered the call, but screened my call first before acknowledging she was infact, Deborah, the owner. Her screening and response only made the experience worse.

She asked me what I wanted her to do about it. This was ordered and picked up on a lunch break. It really wasn’t an option to go back and pick up a replacement. Although that wasn’t even offered. I also have no reason to believe that it would have been any better. Her response after that wound up being she would talk to her staff about it. Then along pause of dead silence. To which my response was basically thanks for nothing and have a great day.

Very poor customer service, management, and food.

Money doesn’t grow on trees, and I don’t mind spending money on good quality. I also like to support local independent businesses. I have no intention of ever going back, and would really just like to get a refund. The owner had no intention of offering me to come back and get a replacement, a gift card to return to the restaurant for a better experience, or a partial or full refund.

I have worked in the restaurant, and small local business industry. In a managerial position. When you have a customer with a poor experience your concern should be to get them back in the business, and to make up for that bad experience.

Nothing of the sort was even hinted to.

EPIC FAILURE

Attached are pics. The 1st pic is what I based my choice off of (posted on their pics/reviews).

The following pics are what I received. You can see how small the portions are if you compare the sizes of the containers to the size of the standard 2 oz sauce containers. The slaw was literally 3 bites. It appeared to be a 3 oz container. Mostly liquid. The fish is on a 8″ plate, and there is also a close up to try and show the lack of crust/crunch.

2025 update – I saw online that it closed in 12/24. It will be missed as the food ans service were excellent.

All of the 5-star reviews are correct. This is a wonderful bar and restaurant! A bunch of photos here show the cheese skirt burgers and has to be seen to be believed. Just make sure you find the bottom bun of your burger – it can get lost in the cheese!

If you’re passing by E-Town on 65, it isn’t that far off of the interstate and far, far better than any chain bar and burger place. Plus you can get an excellent Louisville Hot Brown sandwich. And I’m glad that such a charming bar and restaurant in a nice, compact downtown still is going after all of the struggles of small restaurants these past few years and all that said, this is one amazing local business that deserves all of the rave reviews.
