A home comfort gem with lots of options and friendly service. The food is downright delicious. We ate off the breakfast side, but they also offer a lunch side. If you’re a John Wayne fan, make sure to drop in. I’ll definitely be revisiting the Whiffletree.

Stopped in for lunch the other day. Had a fine enough experience but there was one disappointment to note.
I ordered the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and macaroni and cheese. For the most part the food was fine, but rather unremarkable.
The country fried streak was fine. Had a nice crunch to it. The gravy that was poured over it and the potatoes was really good. The gravy was the highlight of the meal. Just salty enough to have flavor, but not overly so.
The mashed potatoes were really good. They were the made with the skin, which I actually prefer. They had good flavor too, but the gravy again really was the star of the dish.
The macaroni and cheese was a real disappointment. Their mac n cheese was almost the exact same as kraft Mac n cheese. If you had blind taste tested me with the two, I would have said there was no difference. It was not very creamy. It did not have much flavor. And was just very….Meh.
The service was prompt and polite. And my soda was refilled quickly anytime I was nearly out.
Will I be back? It’s a ways outta my way, and nothing blew me away to take me off of my already beaten path. But if I were in the area again I wouldn’t be opposed to stopping in again.

It sounds like you had a wonderful dining experience at The Whiffletree restaurant! Outstanding service and great food can really make a meal special. The peach and rhubarb pie must have been a delightful treat!

My friend and I stopped at The Whiffletree for breakfast after camping last night. We weren’t sure about what to expect, but I knew we were in for a treat when we walked through the door and heard Sara Evans/90s country blaring from the kitchen. The waitstaff were angels. The sausage gravy was *chef’s kiss*. The home fries were sliced potato prepared with probably lard and definitely love – perfectly crispy. An old timer in another booth was talking about burning tires. The coffee put three hairs on my chest. The Whiffletree gave us everything we ever hoped for in a culinary experience. 12/10 would recommend!

What an off-the-beaten-path gem this place is. This was our motorcycle lunch run destination today. Well worth the 120 mile round trip on a cool cloudy day. The Meat Lovers Pizza was delicious and our waitress was friendly and very attentive. We don’t go to this kind of place for the atmosphere, we go for the good food and the local mom & pop dining experience. We got there about 12:30, the parking lot was full, and the place was packed. If you’re in the Butler area and want some great food this is the place.

My wife and I enjoyed a very good breakfast, they were busy, later in the morning, with one server, but she did a great job. Food and service was excellent, as well as a great value. We will sure to return in the near future.

Quaint little spot. Atmosphere was pleasant. Our waitress was friendly n very helpful, being our first visit. Salad bar had great fresh veggies n fruit, nice selection. We ordered lasagna n chicken parm. Lasagna great flavor, plenty of cheese n sauce. Portion size perfect for the price, as with the Chicken Parm, loved it was grilled chicken instead of the heavy breaded chicken, much better grilled. Two meals with delicious garlic bread, salad bar n drinks $20, can’t beat it. We will be back…
