Reviews
We arrived in Fort Bragg late, close to 9:00 PM, and wanted to grab something to eat before heading back to our hotel. Since it was New Year’s Eve, options were limited, so we called ahead to see if they were still serving food. Gina, our waitress, answered and told us to come on over — she said they were almost done serving food, but she was there and would take care of us. That alone made us feel welcomed.
When we arrived, we sat at the bar. It was fairly quiet with a few people there, and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. Being right on the water made it even better. Rafael, who was working the bar, was also wonderful — friendly, attentive, and very accommodating.
I ordered the spicy chicken wings, which were really good, and Ray had the fish and chips, which he enjoyed. I had a double IPA (Pliny), and Ray had a Hefeweizen, which he liked a lot. Everything hit the spot after a long travel day.
We also learned that the wharf, our hotel (The Beachcomber), and a few other places around town are owned by the same group, which really gives Fort Bragg that small-town, connected, welcoming feel. We were able to eat, relax, and still get back to our hotel before the New Year rolled in — a perfect way to end the night.

I inhaled the Cioppino, and the pasta (the pasta is an added extra)? Forget about it, I’m still finding noodles in my pockets.
My partner’s steak was on point, but sadly, no prime rib this time around. I believe we ordered the prime rib 4 years ago.
The servers? Super attentive, almost too attentive. And that margarita? Well, let’s just say I’m pretty sure I saw the bartender pouring in the whole tequila bottle, lol.
There are 3 dinning areas and we were able to sit by the window. we watched a seal at the end of dinner floating, which looked like a piece of wood
Dinner we had
calamari would love to see a spicy tomato sauce option for dipping.
Clam chowder was thick just so so
Bread was extra that was fine, but would love it to be warm and maybe more butter or some herb butter too.
Linguine was just so so needed more flavor and to be less watery. Crab was an ample serving and was fresh.
The fruitta dish was good 2 skewers of shrimp, fish and scallops. Mashed potatoes were so so. Mixed veggies were bland.
Long island ice tea had liquor but was yellow with a primary lemon flavor just odd.
There is potential at this restaurant that just needs some refinement.
Our bill for 4 people with tip included was over $300
The fact that the staff was so willing to accommodate showed how much they care about their customers. It turned what could have been a difficult dining situation into one of the most enjoyable meals I have had in a long time. The steak itself was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, and it made me look forward to coming back to try more from their menu.
On top of the great food and service, the setting could not have been more beautiful. Looking out into the bay while watching fishing boats come and go and seeing sea lions swimming around made the whole experience feel special. It is the kind of view that makes you want to linger a little longer just to take it all in. Between the excellent meal, the thoughtful service, and the incredible atmosphere, The Wharf is a place I would recommend to anyone visiting Fort Bragg.
