They decorated the place and it looks even more quaint and cozy.
The sausage rolls were DIVINE!!!! Omg we couldn’t stop eating them.
The fish n chips were on point, flaky, and no fishy taste. Wonderful.
And the fiancées Shepard pie was scrumptious.
restaurant. Parking can be tight and metered on most days. Upscale meal pricing. Service dogs welcome. Enjoy!!
Our server was great….very friendly and very attentive, and all the staff seemed pretty welcoming. The atmosphere is a bit more dive bar than Irish pub and could use a little updating.
The food was a little hit and miss. The chowder was a little fishy, and the ice cream with the bread pudding was freezer burned. But the French Dip was really good (and those fries/chips are probably worth the visit all by themselves)! The Scotch egg was different than any other we’ve tried, but in a good way.
We went on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn’t super busy, but was starting to pick up as we left. So probably a good sign that the locals were starting to flow in.
Not a “must stop”, but worth a try.
First the service was great! Greeted warmly and promptly when entered by what seemed all the staff. Ha, it was “hello & welcome” in stereo.
My girlfriend had the Steak & Mushroom Pie and loved it! Great recommendation from our waitress. I went for my favorite, good old Fish & Chips. And they didn’t disappoint! Perfectly crisp fresh cod, and the chips were made to perfection.
Next time we’ll eat inside and take in the ambience that is Whale & Ale. But on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, it was tough to pass up the sunshine.
