The inception of The Well began with a serendipitous encounter—a drive past the owner’s childhood haunts led to the purchase of 161 Wellington St North, formerly the Wellington House. With a vision of fostering inclusivity, John transformed this space into a haven for the LGBTQ+ community, aiming to offer a safe, vibrant environment. The arduous yet heartfelt restoration of the building laid the foundation for The Well’s ethos of providing a sanctuary for all.

Went to the Well two lunches in a row! Great lunch specials at a very affordable price and delish! Mike the bartender is best! Remembered our names and orders. The really giant wiener is an understatement… note the knife in picture for scale.

This place still thinks it’s 2009. They try too hard to keep trying, and dare too much to keep daring to be just another bar on the drive. Mattys sucked, and is long since dead and buried. I guess “the well” picked up where mattys left off. Slow service, mid food, bartenders are semi decent. Its the luck of the draw going to this establishment if your going to get good food, drinks, or even service. Seems “the well” isnt doing, so well.

Went last Friday night.
Staff/bartenders were all friendly, attentive, good looking and pored a strong drink.
Food came out fast and was delicious.
Prices also very fare.
Areas that need some work:
Sound system kind of sucks.
Restrooms are in dire need of repair and updating.

Went to drag brunch on a Sunday. The show and food were DELICIOUS!!! The girls! They ATE! and damn, so did I cause those pancake and grits were just like my mommy’s from home in south ga. Go here for drag brunch you will not be disappointed!!!

Manny and Steve, Jason, great people. We aren’t regulars, we were just visiting on our honeymoon, yet they took the time to get to know us, be kind and just super friendly. I can’t say enough good things about this place or the people. They were probably ready for us to leave. But the drag brunch was also amazing and so much fun. The queens fun and friendly as well. Would definitely be our go to spot if we lived there. Happy p y hour is great. Just sad I didn’t try the big wiener….

His professionalism, warm personality, and attention to detail make every visit a great experience. Manny goes above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable and cared for, and it shows how much pride he takes in his work. Truly one of the best bartenders around—The Well is lucky to have him!
