A great atmosphere and a good setting, with friendly attentive staff.
But….have you ever been to a restaurant and wished you’d ordered something else?
The pizza, although tasty seemed to lack topping … lots of topping. I seemed to have acres of just pizza base longing to be filled!
And as for afters, we had a sundae.. ‘Strawberry Madness’ it was called..! And the madness was is that there was not one strawberry in it!!? Nor a wafer!
I feel The Watch House can get away with this as I’m sure most of their customers are one time visit, tourist customers.

Great place for casual food. We had fish and chips and crab pasta. Both delicious and good size portions. Mocktails were good too. Excellent service. Good value for money. Easy parking. Right next to the beach.

We had a great meal at the watch house. I enjoyed a delicious crab linguini that defeated me! Lovely service and plenty of dogs to improve any mood! We sat in the outdoor conservatory bit which was very warm, and the seats didn’t have backs which may be a struggle for some. Would definitely return!

I don’t like posting negative reviews, but our food here was not great, soup was bland and came with a single slice of sliced bread, calamari was mostly batter and not nice. Fish (with chips) also too much batter and greasy. Prob worth sticking to pizzas they might be better.

Great location and would be a nice place to just have a few drinks by the sea. Food wasn’t very good for the price. We were really excited to come here and couldn’t even finish our pizza. Rubbery cheese, undercooked and badly made dough. It might be better in the summer with a different chef? No idea why it was so bad when we went.

Lovely spot to take the family with a frat view of the sea. Fish and Chips were very nice, huge piece of fish with a light batter.

I had great hopes for this place when coming to West Bay today. I was disappointed by the food and the service. I ordered off the special board and had a very poor herb crusted turbot in lobster bisque with tarrogon pearls. The piece of fish was tiny. no more than 100g of fish and cost £23. The lobster bisque looked and tasted like chicken gravy, thick and gloopy, and the clams were crunchy. It was interesting that they changed the menu to be herb crusted cod straight after serving me, so I obviously had the last scrap of turbot.
My companions had the fish and chips and the rack of ribs, respectively. They were happy with their meals and had a decent portion. For this reason, I will award up to 3 stars.
I was the only one who had to go and buy a pasty from the bakery afterwards.
I did mention this to the server who ignored my complaint, and all the servers were generally quite grumpy. One of our teacups was dirty, and we had to ask for a clean one, and the first jug of milk given to us was off.
Toilet was a state as well.
Not recommended for quality or price of food off the specials or for the service or ambience.

Good menu, various choices. Tasty Mac n cheese, I found the batter of the fish a little overcooked, the fish and chips itself was overall good! Informal and nice atmosphere, very kind and efficient staff.
Nice location!

A wonderful lunch, we all decide to have the daily specials. All were delicious, great value for money and we had three dogs with us and the staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating. They bring you complimentary biscuits for the dogs.

We had the Sunday roast deal with dessert. I had beef brisket, which just melted in the mouth. My husband had the pork, also beautifully cooked.
Followed by sticky toffee pudding and biscoff cheesecake which we shared. Although after tasting the cheesecake I didn’t really share too much. It was the best cheesecake I’ve ever tasted! Honestly you have to go there and try it.
I would definitely recommend this place.
