Small tavern serving beer, cocktails & grub such as chili & brisket in an upbeat, informal setup.

The Vintage Moose in Idaho Springs is truly something special. Nestled in a town rich with Colorado history, it feels like the perfect blend of old-soul charm and heartfelt hospitality. Just steps away from one of the area’s most beautiful monuments with breathtaking mountain views, it’s the ideal place to soak in the scenery and then settle in for an unforgettable experience.
From the moment you walk through the doors, you can feel the warmth — and that’s a direct reflection of the owners, Mason and Austina. They are beyond lovely, welcoming, generous, and genuinely attentive. What makes their story even more meaningful is that they were offered the opportunity to take over The Vintage Moose by the previous owners — a testament to how hard they worked and how much they truly loved tending to the bar and caring for the patrons. That kind of trust and recognition speaks volumes.
Beyond my own experience, I had the pleasure of connecting with several locals, and every single one had glowing stories to share. Mason and Austina are deeply rooted in the community — caring, thoughtful, supportive, and the kind of people who show up for their town. You can feel that authenticity in the atmosphere.
The service was fantastic, the energy inviting, and the food absolutely delivered. The pretzel was delicious — perfectly baked and the ideal pairing with my Sparkle Donkey tequila. Simple, satisfying, and exactly what you want after exploring historic Idaho Springs.
If you’re anywhere near this charming mountain town, do yourself a favor and stop into The Vintage Moose. It’s more than a bar — it’s a community hub, a reflection of hard work and heart, and a place you’ll want to return to again and again.
Highly recommend. ✨

Very nice staff and cool little place. Great drinks and open later than other places in town. The food is ok. the green chili was tasty but if you like it thicker, this was more like soup, which is fine just something to note. They have more than just chips and pretzels, but it’s a very simple menu. Good for late night when you’re starving and don’t want fast food. ( the fast food in town is awful btw)

The Vintage Moose is a cozy little gem! It’s the perfect spot if you’re looking for a laid-back atmosphere. The vibe inside is super chill and relaxing, making it a great place to unwind. The bartender was friendly and made sure to interact with everyone, which added a nice touch to the experience. We grabbed some sandwiches after just arriving from the airport, and while the food isn’t anything overly fancy, it’s satisfying and hits the spot. The selection of drinks is great, and they really know how to make you feel welcome. It’s a hidden treasure with a welcoming environment that makes you want to come back. If you’re after a small, intimate place to hang out, The Vintage Moose is definitely worth checking out!

Really neat little mountain bar—- it felt authentic with lots of locals and great conversation and company. The bartender handled the very busy bar customers in addition to an impromptu party in the patio room. They were able to make adjustments to regular bar menu items for vegetarian and gluten free needs and we felt very comfortable and taken care of. Asta and Jess are so kind and personable.

Crossing the country back to California and lucky enough to find The Vintage Moose which is the kind of place you don’t stumble into very often anymore.
We stopped in back in October at an off hour with a mixed group with a young toddler and a handicapped mom in law and were met with genuine, effortless hospitality. Everyone was welcomed, everyone ate well, and no one felt rushed or out of place. The food was exactly what a mountain tavern should be: hearty, honest, and satisfying without trying too hard.
What really stands out is the vibe. It feels like real Colorado, super warm, unpretentious, and full of locals who seem truly rooted there. The proprietor made the experience even better, and we left already planning our return. A rare, authentic gem in Idaho Springs.

This was hands-down one of the worst experiences I’ve had in town. Within just a few minutes of walking in, we were met with rude and dismissive behavior from the bartender, and the way we were treated felt discriminatory and completely unwelcoming. The tone and attitude were negative from the very start, and despite giving it time and trying to move past it, nothing improved. There was no attempt to be courteous, professional, or respectful, which ultimately made us feel uncomfortable enough to leave. Experiences like this should not happen anywhere, especially in a place that serves the public. We will never be returning, and I will let so others know how bad this experience was here.

This is incredibly cozy place in the country-side. The interior has such a mid-west spirit. The bartender/waiter was very nice, and the food was served very quick. The craft beer is must-try (Blood Orange IPA is delicious). I wish there would be a little bit more on the menu to chose from, but we were there on weekday noon, so cant tell if it s the same during the dinner hours. Overall, we were very pleased with this place.

This was hands-down the worst experience I had in town. Within three minutes of walking in, I was treated poorly and outright disrespected by the staff. The woman we interacted with was rude from the start, and even after I said, “Well, I guess we’ll have to find somewhere else to eat,” the attitude didn’t change at all.
We ended up going one block over to MTN Prime and had an amazing experience — friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, and great food. I would choose MTN Prime every single time over this place

We came here after we got married a few years ago and had the best time with absolute strangers. That doesnt sound like much, but it was everything we ever could have wanted! We keep coming back ever since and have the same experience every time. The bathrooms are always clean and have the best handsoap and lotion assortment! Their Pickle shots are the absolute best-we will never not tell the person next to us at the bar to order one too! 10/10 will continue to visit every time we come up!

The locals watering hole. Low key atmosphere. Nice big fireplace and cute little patio. Stiff drinks! More of a tavern than a bar and grill, food menu is just light bar snacks mostly. The hot pretzel and chips and chili con queso hit the spot tho!
