I’d like to preface this with my expectations and preferences for a restaurant. I appreciate places that prioritize an experience, details, and vibe. I also appreciate places that nail small menus and put care into dishes with love and flavor. The Vintage Kitchen ticks off all of that.
We had never visited Restore, so the quaint interior was new to us. I had only seen it in photos. The quaint interior had such cute and thoughtful touches.
They are still working on their bar menu, so I don’t recall the exact drink names. My husband had a cherry old fashioned, I had a chai pear drink. He loved his old fashioned, but we both agreed that the chai pear drink was hands down the winner.
The French onion soup risotto was absolutely delightful and so flavorful! It was the perfect sharing portion for 2 diners.
He got the double smash burger with duck fat fries. I don’t care for sauces, but really liked the bite of his burger I tried. The duck fat fries were very good too! I’m pretty sure that was malt vinegar with it and it paired quite well.
I got the beef short ribs and brown butter mashed potatoes. I cannot begin to describe how tastey the combination was! I’d eat a whole plate of just those potatoes and gravy!
We ended our dinner sharing the hot cocoa tiramisu. It was a great end to the meal.
Our waitress was attentive and very friendly.
It was apparent from the moment we stepped in that this place was built on love. I can’t wait to go back and try some of the other dishes we saw come out to other diners!

I dined here with a large group of friends on one of their first days that they were open, and we were thoroughly pleased. The atmosphere was cozy and unique, the wait staff did a great job accommodating our large group. But the food was the star! We devoured a few portions of the French onion risotto, which was so flavorful. I had the chicken gnocchi and it was some of the best gnocchi I’ve ever had and wished I would’ve saved some for leftovers the next day. I got to try a friend’s short ribs and the meat just melted in your mouth. Everybody was very happy with their dishes and the tiramisu at the end was fantastic. I had a delicious mocktail and my friends also really enjoyed their cocktails. I would highly recommend a visit here, I’m already planning to go back with my family. The owner was also very helpful and responsive when making our reservation.

The food was incredible, the chef’s cooked and prepared these meals to perfection, and the service was great. The owner even stopped by our table to say hi, very classy move. Highly recommend!

This food, start to finish was arguably one of the BEST I’ve ever had. We’ve tried all the major places in La Crosse and this belongs up there. The butternut squash soup was mind blowing. I had the grilled chicken and gnocchi and my wife had the French onion risotto and the beef short rib and everything was to die for. I don’t want to tell anyone else because I want this gem to ourselves but if it’s not packed soon it will be. Enjoy it while you can!

We were so excited to visit and it really missed the mark. With a 530 reservation, we were shoved into the tiniest table forcing you hit knees and sit perpendicular where you’d never have room to eat. The restaurant was not even half full and when asked for a different table were told no. We tried to salvage the visit by moving to the bar and then saw 3 other 2 tops available with at least room to sit across from each other. Bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and made great cocktails and was the highlight of our visit. We ordered the French onion risotto which I had heard amazing things about and only took a couple bites bc it was extremely salty and sour and decided to go somewhere else for mains after the let down. Don’t seat the worst table in the house first.

The Vintage Kitchen is the kind of place that instantly makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. From the moment you walk in, the space feels warm, cozy, and thoughtfully curated, with personal touches throughout the interior that make it feel both intimate and welcoming.

The food is true comfort done exceptionally well. The French Onion Soup risotto is completely unique and unforgettable—rich, savory, and deeply satisfying. The succotash is fresh and flavorful, the burger is perfectly juicy, and the creamy chicken & pasta is everything you want in a comfort dish: indulgent, balanced, and beautifully executed.

It’s also the perfect spot to reconnect with old friends over a bottle of Dutcher Crossing wine, lingering over great conversation and genuinely delicious food. The Vintage Kitchen manages to feel both special and relaxed at the same time—a place that turns a simple dinner into a memorable evening. Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort, connection, and a little something special.

Loved Restore Public House and thought this would be a very similar experience. Food was still great. Service was poor and slow. We were 1 of 3 tables, with 3 staff members that were more interested in talking amongst each other than they were serving guests. Took 10 minutes to just get our drink order placed. Got served another table’s salad, were overcharged for our wine, and for about 3-4 minutes they were messing with lights and it went from normal lighting to pitch black to full bright, then everything in between. Sad to see this cute little place take such a bad turn so fast. Many better restaurants in town to choose from.

Amazing food! We had the squash soup / risotto to start and the short rib / ribeye for our entree. One of the best restaurants in La Crosse in my opinion!
